they deserve to be shot
they didn't deserve to be executed
I have no sympathy whatsoever for the two youts.
breaking into someone's house is a crime. They weren't there to throw a surprise birthday party. People break-in for a reason: theft, vandalism, rape, murder, squatting, etc... The owner has no idea why they are there, and it doesn't matter anyway. They have no business being there. They could be armed with knives or guns. The owner doesn't know and why should he take the chance?
And what is the reasonable number of shots? Wing them and then watch them shoot the owner? Shoot them until the threat is gone. If that means multiple times, then so be it.
Stop this namby-pamby feeling sorry for criminals. How about feeling sorry for the victims of crimes instead?
Rule #2: Use a quality home defense ammunition. You want the projectile to expand, tumble, or fragment; something that's devastating to soft tissue. I'm betting he was using FMJ in his Mini-14. And using a .22LR revolver is inhumane and inexcusable in a home defense situation.
Armed robbers should be executed.
Far as I know these kids were unarmed.
I don't think you should be required to fire warning shots for burglars. But this story is very suspect.
Ultimately whatever defensive weapon you have on hand is better than nothing, but there are a dozen different options better than .22LR. It lacks in every major category for a defensive round; penetration, expansion, wound channel size/shape/depth.What if it was his only gun? Also, if you mean .22 doesn't penetrate all the way through, isn't that kind of what you want in a home defense situation?

When he shot the girl multiple times with his .22LR revolver in the chest, I'm betting all it did was punch some small holes through her lung tissue, causing her to drown in her own blood. That's why she was gasping for air minutes later, and also why he put another round in her skull to put her down. .22LR is inhumane, and clearly inadequate for the job at hand.

A good center mass shot using his Mini-14 paired with a good defensive load would have put both intruders down right away, with softball sized exit wounds through their back.
Story sounds kinda suspicious...
Step 1) Lure kids into house with booze/drugs.
Step 2) ...
Step 3) Shoot them up for profit?
I googled the story and saw a news video where they were interviewing the kids school mates. They said they were not surprised HE would be involved in a burglary since he does it all the time and is constantly getting into trouble and the two of them had tried to break into the home before.
Sounds like bad kid got shot.

This is probably closer tot he truth here. I'm not so sure that creepy looking man didn't lure them down to his dungeon of death and just claim they broke in. I don't know what his motives would be, could be just crazy, but something surely is fishy.
