Was Paul Walker legally a sex offender, or too soon?

The topic came up in Walker's death thread but was swiftly deleted by moderators who wanted the thread to be a positive one. But the fact that he dated 2 girls at the age of 16 when he was well into his 20s and 30s has me wondering who this guy really was. Today, R. Kelly is widely considered to be a pedophile because there's a video floating around of him having sex with a 15/16 year old. He was also put on trial. Wouldn't that put Mr. Walker into the same category? One 16 year old would raise eyebrows. Two would be confirmation that something is seriously wrong with him, IMHO.

if you think just because they were 16 that "something is seriously wrong with him" but if he had waited 2 years he is a normal functioning adult....?

Because 16 is pushing the legal limit. IMHO, he was probably just "settling" instead of risking his freedom and stardom by going after the younger ones.

You are basing that off what exactly?

His girlfriend is 23, they met when she was 16, I am fairly sure they were happy together at that point, he wasn't "settling" for anything...

Seriously? So anybody who ALMOST breaks the law in your mind might as well should be locked up because they were just "settling"? This has to be trolling... nobody can be serious about being that fucking stupid.

A pedophile is attracted to pre-pubescent children. Physically a 16 year old is basically an adult. So a true pedophile wouldn't "settle" for a 16 year old.

You must have a hard time with reading or comprehending what the words mean. I never said "might as well should be locked up..." I said he went as low as he legally could. Any lower and he'd be in prison.

As I've said before, one 16 year old is bad enough. Two and it's official that something is not right. He met the 2nd 16 year old at age 33. WTF.

R Kelly settled even though he was introduced to her at the age of 12 and was allegedly very aggressive in courting her. And R. Kelly is a free man today.

and if he had met her at 18 when he was 35 we'd all be patting him on the back for nailing a hot 18 year old.

The facts remain, nothing he did was strictly illegal, and further it's none of our business, we weren't involved in his life or his relationships, anything you say on the matter is fairly pointless, especially considering the only thing that can come from this is to posthumously besmirch Paul walker which is very disrespectful, if he molested an 11 year old, or tried to have sex with a preschooler, then sure we could have that discussion, but you're just being stupid with how things stand now.

He was a public figure and those are fair games. I don't care if he's dead or alive. Besides, all this information came to my attention after he died. Before that, I never bothered to dig into his personal life. If I did, I probably would've enjoyed his movies a lot less. If you feel I'm disrespecting someone you care about feel free to leave the thread. Or defend him, makes no difference to me. Either way, dating a girl that was less than half your age (when you were 33 no less) is disgusting.

The age of consent in 30 of the 50 states last I checked was actually 16, so there's a good chance him dating a 16 year old was in no way illegal.

Being a pedophile is not illegal if you don't act on it. But dating multiple girls at that legal limit is a clear sign that you might be a pedophile.
