was 2008 a good year for you?

It was a crappy year for me
I realized how difficult life really is
How competitive the corporate world is and how I need to dedicate myself fully to make the next promotion or get good reviews
Nothing went as I planned
Got rejected from the jobs I really wanted, forced to move to a crappy city where I'm comfortable but damn bored everyday.

The more I tried to become social and meet people, the more desperate I seem so from this point, I'm not going to try anymore... some people don't even bother getting back to me so I feel disrespected. Don't want to try anymore, I tend to have better luck if I let them come to me.
Usually people have a significant other to keep each other's company but I must have some big issues that prevents me from achieving that and making other friends easily

2008 was supposed to be my lucky year (the year of the rats according to the Asian zodiac signs/astrology).
2008 has been nothing but a struggle

it was... mixed.

maybe i should elaborate: i got a promotion and a 21% raise but wound up in rehab in november. meh.

what isn't crappy about nyc?

The first half was not so bad. The second was terrible. -_- It all really, really, went downhill from June. It's like, a semilog graph or something.

This year has been a wild ride. I got my third DUI on January 16th. Spent an assload of money paying that off. Then I ended up getting sober and finding out what life is really about. Now I have a whole new outlook on life and know that life is a beautiful thing. The downside was that I have been going through a pretty severe depression. I had to take some off work to get my head on straight. Now I am debating my future and struggling to have faith that God is going to look out for me no matter what.

Oh, and I got unbanned!

Well I still have a job. Just got a 3.5% pay increase and a excellent review. My family is doing great. I keep waiting for something bad to happen.

I moved a while ago

To where?

Northern VA

I'm seriously about to go into hibernation mode for the next year and not try anymore with people.

Quitting will get you no where. What interests do you have? What about finding a group with similar interests via meetup.com, local adult education classes, volunteering, etc?

I'm guessing living in Northern VA is only temporary also. Just need to realize that it's only short-term and not forever.

where in north virginia.
if you get down toward charlottesville and lynchburg there is a ton of stuff to do and great people. If you like kayaking, during the spring and early summer the james river and surrounding rivers are a lot of fun. they get a little shallow later in the year.
mountainbiking is pretty good there too.
