I gave the demo a try...
PROS
It's fun! The violence portrays the harsh battles of the WH40K universe well. Some of the weapons pack a nice punch when fired. Animations are great, transition between ranged and melee is fast and seamless.
CONS
Most of the sounds (not all, there's exceptions) feel "weak". The camera is a bit too close to the action for my tastes, would appreciate zooming out more to a certain extent. Teammates basically have no A.I. to assist you, they walk, fire a few shots, sometimes they literally stand still doing nothing while one or a few Orks chase me around, extremely disappointed by that aspect so far, I really feel like I'm doing all the work which shouldn't be the case in a Space Marines squad. The levels (in the demo, that is) are small and linear, no exploration, no wandering Orks you can ambush or attack by surprise, they always seem to see you coming (hearing Space Marines coming beforehand though is a given, I admit, they tend not to be the silent kinda bunch of people for sure), and the Orks come in "waves", usually at the last of which comes one or a few bigger ones as pseudo bosses. There's a mind-blowing lack of video options (what the hell Relic?).
If the game auto-detects a USB controller chances are that it will consider it to be a 360 controller, therefore it will "disable" (I.E remove) the mouse cursor as soon as you get to the main menu. I had my MadCatz Fightpad connected (and automatically detected by the game), and the cursor was gone. So after restarting the game a few times and checking the actual game's installation files to manually edit options to enable the disappeared mouse cursor I thought "alright, let's just disconnect the controller itself", which fixed the problem. The damn thing is so consolized that it actually auto detects controllers and REMOVES the mouse cursor from the screen in the process (which sucks). If you guys want to play with a mouse and keyboard and are wondering why you don't have a mouse cursor at the main menu with the "A" and "B" buttons of a 360 controller showing up on the interface then you'll know why, just saying.
The music is far from comparable to the epic feel of the DoW 2's soundtrack, it's decent I guess, but so far (in the demo) it's disappointing, except perhaps for the music playing at the main menu, but that's about it. Give me back my Angels of Death theme while I blow them Orks to bits please, thanks.
Also, why no helmets? They don't even have beards to show off for crying out loud!
CONCLUSION
Well it's a demo, and I skipped a couple of other elements I didn't liked. I must say that overall I'm more disappointed than anything else... BUT... the non-negligible thing to consider (kinda speaking to myself from this point) is that I'm a sucker for Warhammer 40K material and media, and games. I buy pretty much all of them (except for that Fire Warrior stuff on the PS2), plus I bow to His Power and anything related to the Craftworld Eldar makes me a happy man. So... yeah I will buy it. All I want is to bash some heretic skulls too, I like blowing up some Orks like everyone but I want more variety. And if I get to pilot a Dready at any point in the game I'll have to fedex Relic some cookies for sure.
Well, I'll give it a solid 7.0/10 so far.
