No, not at all. The Mesiah is to come riding in on a horse and brandishing a sword--to lead the sons of Israel into glorious battle, smite their enemies, etc. That, is the prophecy.

Jesus came riding in on a donkey and brandishing a laurel branch. Please, do not ignore the scribes and philosophers and rabbis that find great fault with Christ's claim of Messiah-hood.

If he did meet the prophecies, as you say, then there would be no Christians.

I would like to know what passage you are referring to as well...

There is something incredibly ironic about this.

Okay I guess I'll have to explain this to Incorruptible. OP... you should be happy, they are doing Christians a favor by removing the sanctity of "Easter" from the PAGAN practice of searching for eggs.

No, The real reason there doing this is to attack Christians and be PC. You think they care if its Pagan? There using this is as a chance to attack Christianity.

This post made absolutely no sense.

They are doing this to attack Christians....so they attack a Pagan ritual as a chance to attack Christianity......

Predominant doesnt mean universal. Just means most people believe it in that context. And you same quote right below your bolded says this:

"However, there are differences of opinion as to how the New Covenant affects the validity of the Old Covenant, how many Old Covenant laws such as the Ten Commandments are continued or renewed in the New Covenant, and related issues. The differences are mainly as a result of attempts to harmonize biblical statements to the effect that the Old Covenant and its law is "perpetual"[5] or "everlasting"[6] or "lasting"[7] with biblical statements to the effect that it does not apply anymore (in the current dispensation) or at least does not fully apply.[8] The topic of Paul and the Old Covenant is still frequently debated among New Testament scholars leading to many views."

I'm not sure where you're trying to go with this line of reasoning. You're right...predominant doesn't mean universal. Do you actually expect universal agreement in every aspect of Christian doctrine? If so, you're holding Christianity to an impossible standard.

I guess my point is Christans are picking and choosing how to view/interpets what they want with regards to the many versions/revisions on the various bibles. And its also easy to write a book where Jesus fullfills every prophecy that was from an earlier book you already had access to. Thus going back to it being "fishy".

Once you begin studying such things and understand the facts...you will begin to grasp the complexity and shear impossibility of pulling off such an elaborate hoax.

But ill back out now. Its your faith and as long as you arent trying to change laws to impose it on me im not too worried what you want to believe or have faith in.

You have beliefs and I have beliefs...yet you only want laws that reflect your beliefs. Hmmm. Why would you hold me to a standard that you are unwilling to apply to yourself?

I just think its an interesting topic. And no im not a Christian scholar so i am constantly learning more everyday about religion. But i still dont buy into any of it.

And that's OK with me. I like talking about Christianity and always learn something along the way. Thanks for being open to honest discussion. That speaks volumes about you.

I have observed out of my psychological apperceptions of how the human mind works, that many Christians exhibit a facility for feeling persecuted and I attribute this to the focus and emphasis that is placed in Christianity on martyrdom and turning the other cheek, but with the result that, via the law of 'becoming what you fear and repress', turns many of these fine Christian folk into parodies more psychologically normal folk will happily martyr the first chance they get. This is to say specifically here, that when a person goes around crying about how the Barbarians are running around destroying Christian Easter Sunday and the cute little rabbits that bring eggs on this day, many of those Barbarians, here and there, are going to want to take that Easter Bunny and shove it up your ass.

And the really, really, sad part of all of this is that it's what you live for.

Yeah, he's right. My fault...again...

Actually, if in the end it turns out their is a god and i was wrong all along and he is judging me. I am fine with whatever judegement he would impose on me and i would still stand behind my views even to his face. Hopefully he would see i lived a good life and take mercy on me in that instance, but that would be for him to decide.

I'm speaking in general terms. For example, you may believe we need stricter gun control laws and I believe we need stricter abortion laws. Why would you feel justified wanting to impose your beliefs on me and not give me the right to do the same to you?

Old Testament made God look to mean and vengeful, so write a new one where he is kinder in order to get more followers? Obviously i dont have all the answers/truths on this, nor does anyone. But its always an interesting topic for sure.

Shrug, the way I see it is God fucked up his religion the first go 'round and it took him that long to come up with something better. Thats why there are basically two completely opposite parts/teachings of the bible.

Like I said, Christianity started it when they decided to become thieves.

don't want no shit then don't start no shit!!

Return the holiday to its rightful owners, pick your own, and then maybe you will have a reason to scream about some war on Christianity but so long as you support them being thieves your out of luck.

The war shall continue!! We shall not sleep until every egg hunt held in observance of the Spring Equinox is properly named after years of Christian oppression.

Not to be mean, but this is just an ignorant remark and really shows the depth of your understanding.

No one's trying to "fool" people into becoming a believer in a loving God -- as Doc said, the Old T was directed to the nation of Israel, Christ does indeed meet the Old T prophecies about him.

It opens up hope to non-Jews (people like Doc and myself who aren't Jewish) and fulfills the Abarahamic promise of his seed being "as numerous as the stars".

Even if you don't know, the question shows your train of thinking...

Not really.....

Old Testament: God sends an angel with a flaming sword who kills a crapload of babies because some asshole is using his people as slaves. (what kind of "angel" actually follows that order?!?! Hell even us mere mortals have already gotten rid of the "I was ordered to" excuse for crimes against humanity)

New Testament: Jesus heals and forgives the sinners, says turn the other cheek, etc...

One is a majorly fucked up dick move that we would call psychotic behavior today and the other is a decent and kind being. There is a huge difference between even the "tone" of the old and new testaments.

I dont care if Christians "stole" it. All I care is that this stops. For years they have been called Easter eggs and now to call them "spring eggs" is just sheer stupidity.

An ok. I thought I had said something specifically in this thread. I agree though. Most things I support all comes down to choices more than my personally beliefs. If something opens up more choices to others than I'm usually for it regardless of my beliefs. I don't want to impose on others unless what they are doing or proposing will limit another's choice.

Call them by the proper name. Would you like it if your name was attacked or your holidays?

If someone gives me a nickname and it sticks and for years people call me by that nickname, but then at some point people go back to calling me by my real name or perhaps give me a new nickname that sticks, it's neither attacking or not using the proper name. To say Easter eggs is the proper name is just stupid, also known as par for the course for you.

A religious man asking for proof? I believe, it just takes the faith of a mustard seed, that's all bro. I believe, therefore it is.

Adding to the quote, the war on easter was won by the Christians centuries ago when they hijacked the ancient holiday honoring some fertility goddess. 0 fucks are given.

Ester was the Goddess of fertility, a pagan God. Personally in this day and age where half the country is overweight or dabetic, then why do we want to wake up and commence eating chocolate till we throw up or die or something?
