That doesn't entitle you to behave badly. If you don't know how to park properly, you're the one who should be paying for off-street parking.

Nothing was damaged so I was not behaving badly. Touching someone's car at .5 mph != hitting it.

My car has been tapped by others who were parking dozens of times and I never threw a hissy fit about it.

I am confused how the DMV would be involved. Isn't traffic violations a part of the police department? Not that you did anything wrong.

Bumping someone's car IS behaving badly. It demonstrates a lack of skill and/or consideration for others.

At fault accident? Kind of hard to have an accident when there's ZERO damage.

This time there was no damage. And apparently someone saw you hit the other car. All the other guy has to do is find a scratch on his bumper and then you have to fight a claim whether you put it there or not. It may be a bullshit claim but it is still going to be a hassle. All I'm saying is that every time you make contact with another vehicle you are exposing yourself to civil liability which can be just a costly as gas or whatever time it takes to find a better parking spot that you can safely fit into.

typicalATOTunethicalResponse: Hey, but EVERYONE else is doing it!

I swear so many of our posters are still have the mindset of a child.

He claimed he was going to call the DMV because I'm a dangerous driver and should lose my license 🙄

I can just imagine the conversation that ensued:

"Is there a police report?"
"No."
"Is there any damage to the car that you claim was hit?"
"No"
"Do you know the name of the individual involved?"
"No"
"Wait, do you even own the car in question?"
"No"

Have you ever lived in an urban area where you have to park on the street every day? Occasionally tapping other people's cars is a fact of life. Everyone does it, it's a necessity for taking advantage of some scarce parking spots and I'm sure as hell not going to feel guilty because I bump another person's car a few times per year.

Get off your sanctimonious high horse (and consider the fact that pretty much the only person who's agreeing with you is the troll king of this forum.)

you should have been, "Yes please call the DMV right now and use speakerphone."

Don't listen to the others on here bumping another car that slow is no big deal unless you do it every time. They are acting like you bump 100% time you parallel park.

I'm not so lazy as to not know where my car ends and other cars begin. Quit trying to excuse the feel method, have a little class and skill.

People steal, murder and rape everyday in those large cities too.

Learn to drive as those that have nice things and actually make decent money don't appreciate how brash the poor can be.

I didn't feel like wasting my time, plus interacting with people like that can occasionally lead to more trouble. Let him stew in his pathetic, impotent anger.

That doesn't justify anything. Those cars you bump into don't belong to you, quit hitting them.

Yes, in fact I have. Everyone does NOT do that, if they can avoid it.

And if you have to resort to insults to support your argument, you're only highlighting how weak your argument is to begin with.

I'm actually surprised to hear that so many people think it's ok to hit someone else's car, even if it's just a "tap".

Austin Powers that bastard in there if you have to, but please don't assume that it's ok to hit my car.

"Ok" has nothing to do with it, it's an unavoidable fact of life in certain areas. Getting all sanctimonious about it is like claiming that everyone who breaks the speed limit by 5 mph on the highway is a reckless lawbreaker.

Your speeding doesn't involve hitting my car. Or at least, shouldn't.

Your attitude is a big part of the problems in our country. There is a difference in speeding and property damage.

Ah, ATOT, where everyone makes $100k+, is in great shape and is such a perfect driver that they can squeeze into a narrow parallel parking spot without ever having the occasional accidental bump. I applaud your fantastic internet driving skills.

Your unsubstantiated assumptions are showing again. No one has mentioned their salary, physical condition, or claimed to be a perfect driver.

Clearly you're feeling defensive here, and that's a good thing. It indicates that you're doubting your own opinion, and that's an opportunity for growth.
