boo fucking hoo.
That flag is a symbol for oppression, human rights violations and outright murder of a specific race. So very, very sorry that we are finally pulling our heads out of our collective asses and recognizing it for what it is, a symbol of hate.

So, when are you all fair weather phony liberals going to boycott/ban this one.

It's obviously an overstatement to claim that everyone who flies it is a racists.

It is most certainly NOT an overstatement to claim that MOST people who fly it are indeed racist.

Here is an interesting poll question for news sites to run. Have you flown the flag or worn it on a shirt and are you racist? Every one I know that has worn or flown it are not. I have only known one racist person and he was a Mexican and openly admitted it. Never saw him with the rebel flag though, LOL. These were all people I knew personally and not just some random encounter.

In my opinion a racist person wouldn't fear repercussions as much as a non racist person would. I have a Dukes of Hazards shirt that I believe has a rebel flag on it. And, I wish people wouldn't think I was racist because of it. I just liked the show when I was younger, and I like interesting t-shirts, like ones from think geek or about old things I grew up with. But, now I have to think twice because someone might over react. And having a family makes it even worse. I should not have these fears in a free country, but it is something I think about. And with a second statue vandalized in Charleston I am worried it may get worse before it gets better. And Charleston was doing so good with the hands across the bridge think and everyone coming together.

If you're that worried about it you could just buy a new shirt?

Awww, are you mad that people are finally calling out you idiots for celebrating the flag of cowards?

I don't think anyone that starts a civil war no matter what they believe could be called a coward. It takes a lot of nerve to stand up for something and be willing to die for it. Bravery was showed on both sides of our civil war.

Regarding the first highlighted line: My Bullshit Meter just blew to smithereens.

Regarding the second highlighted line: Boo-fucking-hoo. If you are now scared about wearing a t-shirt in public with a Confederate flag on it, just think about how black people feel about having to go out every single day and deal with racists who live to make their lives miserable.

Cry me a fucking river.

Funny this happened just today.
I just checked Amazon this morning to see what Confederate flags sell for and I not only found a whole slew of Confederate flags to choose from, but mens Confederate flag shorts and some Confederate flag women's apparel as well on Amazon.
Then, after the announcement, zilch. Nada. Gone.
I'm kind of sorry I didn't order a few items, especially the clothing.
Sounds to me like this could have been quite an investment.
But with eBay as well banning the sales of Confederate crap, where could one sell in hopes of huge profit?

Besides banning sales of Confederate crap, I don't see this flag thing settled quite so soon as people expect. And while the process has been started, this is not a done deal by any means.
I suspect there are those in power and with influence that will hold on and fight the states right to fly the Confederate flag.
And if challenged in court, as it will be, this will end up all the way to the US supreme court as a free speech issue. And I doubt the high court could rule against free speech.
It never has before.
The entire issue could ignite into a major firestorm.

Add to that if the high court soon rules in favor of SS marriage, there will be plenty of carbon copy nut jobs ready to take on society and the government by force.
Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.

I have not lied, so I think your meter is just busted. I rented a room to him and another room to a black guy. The Mexican flat out told me I could not begin to understand what they (blacks) had done to his family. After a few months the black guy called me and said they could not get along and could he get out of the lease. I let him out without paying penalties for breaking the lease. I really felt bad for the guy. Would have rather the Mexican have left, but I don't think I had the legal right to kick him out.

I have thought about it and feel bad for them. I wish racism didn't exist, and never plan to be friends with anyone who is. Not sure how more people feeling scared is a good thing though. I don't think the flag being down will make them deal with less racists. It will probably increase it. At least in the short term. Hopefully in the long term it will.

I don't think a Dukes of Hazard shirt would be a Dukes of Hazard shirt without the General Lee. The car was the star of the show, much like Kitt was the star of KnightRider. (Really need another good car show) And, I have other shirts to put on that's not the point.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_kk_2...words=confederate+flag&ie=UTF8&qid=1435124774

Just thought that was funny. Amazon's first entry for confederate flag is the USA flag. Guess they are trying to show everyone what flag they should be flying.

Before they removed most of the confederate flags one was up 168000%. That has got to be a record of some sort for Amazon. Although it probably didn't sale many to being with, which makes the percent increase large. But still 168K% looked really out of place.

Wow, you have only met one person in your life who was racist and they were Mexican plus you were even nice to a black man that the Mexican was mean to? Please, just stop. The next thing you will be telling me is that your best friend is black...lol!

Give it up, it ain't working.

I agree, I don't think people realize the backlash that's in store. But it won't be from people in power, they've shown which side they're on, it will be from the rural Republican base. One example, unless they outright ban them at the races, I guarantee the Confederate flag will be all over NASCAR crowds like you've never seen before now that NASCAR has come out against it. And unless racism truly doesn't drive that demographic, and/or that flag truly doesn't represent racism anyway, it's going to drive a wedge further between Tea Party types and the establishment Republicans, to the point where it's likely going to effect elections. In Joe Biden's words, this really is a BFD.

Guess the word didn't get out to the gas station/convenience stores as I saw a rack that had quite a few 3' x 5' Confederate flags this morning when I grabbed my coffee.

This like many things will blow over in a couple of months as if it never happened and stores will continue selling the flag.

While I do agree that the flag will be up for sale somewhere, I don't think it will be anywhere near the same as before. More people will disapprove of it in public and while it won't stop the hard core nuts from waving it, more people will decide it's not worth it to them. With state governments removing it from positions of prominence it becomes an item that has to stand on its own. With large retail outlets dumping it, it will become more of an item you pick up at some roadside tourist shop or some dump of a web site that sells cheap shit than something that is as available as is once was. Regarding the push back from the flag supporters, I'm actually hoping for the crazies to come out of the woodwork soon because it's been too quiet...lol!

Nothing sells something to people like advertising and those idiots love to advertise their bigotry just about every time they open their mouths.

Extra note: The Citadel, pending approval, wants to take their flag down too.

This push about the flag flying on State land really isn't about stores not selling merchandise... yes THIS topic is. Stores should be able to sell it (or not) and people should be able to buy and display it (or not).

This push is about banishing a flag in hopes it will reduce racial animosity but it will not change anything. This is nothing but a feel good act and nothing more. Racist will be racist with or without a flag.

So you ascribe to the 'all whities are racist pigs' mindset? Yeah, that attitude is gonna go a long way to reducing racial tensions.

I think it's fair to say that it's hard for the person to judge that everyone he's ever met hasn't been racist, especially if he himself is white.

Sorry, but the powers that be have no interest in reducing racial animosity. They get far to much political leverage from it to do anything truly constructive.

How so? Maybe he's a genuinely nice, fair-minded person who hangs with like-minded people. Way too much broad brushing going on in here.
