You should of told her she was lucky to even get a tip with such bad service.

well, usually i like to give her the benefit of the doubt. Even on the other tab, which was $30, my buddy left $38

So they could make their $25/hr for serving food?

holy crap. i'd be calling her boss. she was way out of line.

what did she expect, a 50% tip? With the type of service that you described that she gave you, i would have left less of a tip, expecially if your with multiple friends with serperate checks. I would have told her manager!!!

7 on 46 is average, especially with service like that. i would not expect a tip like that if i served a chipped glass that cut someone, and cold/wrong food.

of course, the worst is when someone hands you cash, you count it, and see the tip and they go "is that good" i typically freeze up if it is a low tip, however i now know to just say "it is customary to tip between 15-20% and your tip is XX%.

dont ever ask a server if the tip is enough, its puts the server in a bad spot

then again, today i got some good tips :D

10 on $36, and 15 on $55

She was WAY out of hand. Good servers never yell at customers for any reason.

I recall seeing the same show (or one very similar) and I yelled at them through the tv to "SHUT THE FVCK UP!"

I am not a bad tipper unless the service warrants a bad tip.

This bee ess about "Tip me well and you'll get good service." is completely bogus. How the FVCK are you going to know how to supply service when it the tip will be at the end of the transaction. It's YOUR job to WORK for the tip.

Ooh, those type opf servers piss me off.

my thoughts exactly!

15% is low end?!

In a bar, I usually tip more. But I don't carry a tab, so that they can see I'll tip good, an I get drinks faster/stronger.

Just my experience, anyway. Of course, I haven't run into any waitstaff like in the op.

Don't know what kind of restaurant that was but I'd say that's pretty cheap. In that case you should tip on the true value rather than the bill.

And the OP did the correct thing. Nothing wrong w/ your tip and she was out of line. She needs to suck it up and move on.

(I waited tables/bartended to get through college)

For the so-called 100% tipper claim - if the entree for both you and your wife was more than $9 ea, you barely left enough tip at 15% if $4.90 was your tip amount. Free dinner gift card usually don't include tip to waiters.

yup, your a horrible tipper.

ive had tables bought because stuff came out slow or what not, and not my fault, so we bought their table, it woulda beeen a $95 bill, and they still left me $20 as a tip even though everything of theirs was free.

$10 if you had a $50 meal (which isnt much) thats fine, but if it was like $100, your cheap.

Agreed. When he said "My tab comes out to $46 or so and i leave a $7 tip", somehow I came under the impression that the OP spent a minute or two with a calculator, trying to make up numbers. And, I've never seen or heard of someone who cut their lip on a chipped glass.
Of course, his post count seems to give him some forum credibility; but I still doubt the story is as he told it.

One other thing, OP, could you make a decision on which tense you're going to use while telling a story? "I throw a business card in her direction and tell her to take it up with the law firm I was for and advise her to go back inside and make earn her $7.50/hr." Are you an errand boy for the law firm? Did you type that after too many drinks at the bar? I *shudder* agree with dmcowen.. "corporate thug" fits.

So if you were an annoying waitress (quite a stretch for you I'm sure....) and a male customer punched you, when you retold the story to friends etc, you would refer to that guy as simply "immature"? LMAO, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

What the OP did was hardly noble, in fact he was incredibly petty.

actually even with the total bill would not have been over $20 avarge meal is $6 with 1 beer and a lemonande . think beer went up to $2.00 a draft and not sure how much the lemonade was.

this is a small bar & grill. not a applebees or such. but has far better food then any of those crappy chians. Anyone in Sycamore Il should hit PJ bar yummm

so even with total i would still been a good tip so neer neer!

Your nickname is fitting Corporate Thug

Your distain for the peoons in the Country that serve you is also fitting for the times.

I have no disdain at all for those in the service business and by no means do i think they are "peoons". If it wasnt for her unprofessional behavior, i would have never had such a comment.

True, she may be in the wrong business but I sensed an attitude on you part too, sorry.

Both "unprofessional" but par for the course with this "service" Economy.

immature, and a few other choice words. fact is, i wouldn't be as vindictive as that ***** was. i work with the public in my job. you have to maintain your composure no matter what they throw at you.

OP had had enough of this tip demanding waitress, and tossing a business card at her isn't really a big shake. i have never in my life had a waiter or waitress demand a tip. some nerve.

Yeah, I question the lawyer bit now. What kind of lawyer would have see their friend cut his lip on a bar glass and not try to sue for big $$$?

I'm not a lawyer. I work for a firm as a Junior associate part time during the school year and full time in the summer. As a Law student, i cannot represent anyone without the supervision of an attorney.
