heh me and my wife went out for dinner Thursday. I left almost 100% tip!



really i did. OK OK the dinner was free (got a gift card for the main course, drinks and appetizer were not covered). bill came to $5.10 and i paid with a $10 and had her keep the change

Don't know what kind of restaurant that was but I'd say that's pretty cheap. In that case you should tip on the true value rather than the bill.

And the OP did the correct thing. Nothing wrong w/ your tip and she was out of line. She needs to suck it up and move on.

(I waited tables/bartended to get through college)

I wouldn't hold the glass against her. Someone else probably poured the drink, and the friend didn't notice it was chipped either. I think it's pretty difficult to notice something like that in bar lighting.

OP, you left out one detail... how long were you at the table?

why the fvck should you pay for bad service? this is why people pull the ****** that the OP is talking about. they expect that they should be paid no matter how bad a job they do. and they want %20 for avarage/bad service. thats bs

avarage service i pay 10%, bad service well it depends on how bad actually, great service depends on how good.

and I suppose I'm in the minority of tipping 20% most of the time. I guess I just have too much sympathy because I have quite a few friends who worked the restaurant business.

I recall seeing the same show (or one very similar) and I yelled at them through the tv to "SHUT THE FVCK UP!"

I am not a bad tipper unless the service warrants a bad tip.

This bee ess about "Tip me well and you'll get good service." is completely bogus. How the FVCK are you going to know how to supply service when it the tip will be at the end of the transaction. It's YOUR job to WORK for the tip.

Ooh, those type opf servers piss me off.

That's true. I had a discussion the other day with my brother, who says he tips $1 per beer/drink, no matter what the cost. Even $1 beer night. But OP said they ordered food, so it wasn't $46 in drinks alone.

I've rarely been to one that cleans up regularly. I can think of a couple of Asian buffets in CA that did, but otherwise, the crap just piles up.

I could see that in a very high class restaurant, but that's a different situation altogether. I went to this Chinese Seafood restaurant in Richmond one time(don't recall the name) and the service was phenomenal. You wanted a waiter, no problem look up and someone was there before you could open your mouth.
