so me and a group of friends go to a bar. My tab comes out to $46 or so and i leave a $7 tip because there was another tab open for the table and he buddy was gonna tip himself to.

The waitress comes back and tells me that if anything is wrong with the service because she isnt happy with the tip. Anyway, i tell her my friend cut his lip because the glass you brought was chipped, she screwed up the food order, and the service was slow.

With that said, i thought i was being fair with my tip. And then she says "feel free to leave a cash tip on the table". At the point, i was sure i wasnt going to so I closed the tab and left. The waitress runs outside calling me and my buddies assholes. I throw a business card in her direction and tell her to take it up with the law firm I was for and advise her to go back inside and make earn her $7.50/hr.

Usually, i wouldnt even bother but i thought she was waaaaaaay out of hand. What do you all think? Was she in the right? Was I?

I agreed with you up until the last part. What exactly is wrong with making an honest living?

Stupid b!tch. 15% is more than fair, given that the service wasn't all that great.

That's about 15%. A bit on the low end, but if you felt the service wasn't spectacular, it's more than fair.

What the hell was with that lady? It's a 15% tip. She was way out of line and you could have gone as far as told the manager/owner about her behavior. I think you reacted just fine to her.

I agree... OP was in the right to leave the tip he did, hell it was 15% and he didn't even get good service... but no need to mock someones wage.

$7 on a $46 tab is a bad tip?

I would have punched her in the ovary for that.

Nothing AT ALL, I did it my whole life. I thought she was being way out of hand and i decided to say something to in return because i was so pissed. If i wasnt as angry as i was, i would have never said anything like that.

WTF...15% is standard. Tell her there weren't enough blowjobs handed out to warrent any additional compensation.

the fact that she even brought it up shows a lack of etiquette.

the fact that she invited you to leave a cash tip after you told her what was wrong, shows a lack of decorum.

as for going out in the parking lot after you... if she had a shred of class, she would be ashamed of herself.
