We were told Fermi would have DX12 support and that hasn't happened. Not surprised, really.

AMD said that the older VLIW HD 5000 and 6000 cards aren't capable. Likely why they've been relegated to legacy.

HD78xx series is also VLIW architecture. Anything 79xx and newer should be alright, as alright it can be for something that old.

Nice
The real gorilla(s) in the room, IMO, is Linux and Windows, if Vulkan adoptation matures to dx12 levels and pushed by Valve with SteamOS, year of the linux desktop may finally be within reach.
Interesting times.

Six year old GPU's won't get support for new API...No #$%@.

Guess what - AMD GPU's from the same period aren't going to be supported either. But that fact doesn't fit your agenda.

Dude chill pill.

Nvidia is the one that was claiming Fermi would have DX12 support, so it would make sense to see Vulkan support for it as well.

Since Nvidia hasn't followed through with DX12 drivers, having confirmation that Vulkan isn't coming either is good.

Maybe you're reading too much into this statement much like it would be easy to read too much in to your opening post.
I am sure AtenRa is not shocked by these facts nor is any1 else, it is still facts non the less and thus pertinent to the thread yes?

By bolding his post he made his intentions clear. He's shouting about Nvidia rather than saying that if your video card is 5 years old it's not getting drivers regardless of brand.

Big difference between the two.

This isn't a DX12 thread.
