I called the guy. I ordered last night, and was told that my credit card was authorized, so I would most likely receive the laptop.

I wonder how reliable these csr's are.

hopefully, they're more reliable as staples CSRs...ummm...yeah...you should be getting the camera in a few days. i think they're the only ones that would consider a month+ to be "a few days".

Thanks!

Will that do you any good? I would assume you need the serial number bar code from the UPC as well...

Well, since the rebate only asks for the UPC (and not the Serial Number), I'm pretty confident that it will work. And also the rebate only wants a copy, so that also shouldn't be a problem. Of course, if it doesn't work, it's only the cost of a stamp and envelope. :)

So if some *really really* nice person would help me with a scanned copy of the UPC code only, I'd appreciate it! Just PM me so you can be anonymous. ;)

If you click on the "lock" icon next to the lightbulb on the top left of each post, you can PM someone. If you don't see any lock, you'll need to enable Private Messaging in your "Profile."

Thanks!

Exactly what I am thinking. Even if it's only a slim chance they'd honor the rebate on an open/no box item, it's worth a stamp to me for a chance at getting the $200.

And if it does go through, I'd gladly pay the person who helped me get a copy of the 180B5 UPC a finder's fee!

I missed on this deal. But I really want an 180B5. If any of you who got it, would like to trade for a Compaq 910US I got last week from the Staples deal + cash, or just interested in selling the 180B5, please PM me.

also, anybody knows if there is a chance these will ever be available again?

Dude, these are sold for $950 - $200 rebate = $750 NEW... Open box is worth even less...

i believe the 15.2 screens are the widescreens...and yeah, it would be cheaper to go to the store itself and pick it up (1750 including 3 year service)

Agreed... But, if it was a widescreen it would be a 185, not a 180...

Just got an e-mail notification that mine's now on backorder :( I highly doubt anyone that had an order on bb.com will be getting these.

if you order the service plan from Best Buy, the manager can write a note to the Service Dept to supply you with a new AC adaptor or battery for free

btw, i just went to Best Buy today and did a paper exchange so that I am now eligible for the $100 rebate on the 180 B5 which I purchased last week

woohoo!:D my total cost for the laptop: $650

i have a 180b model.

has anyone flashed the combo drive to a newer firmware? nero tells me the firmware on the one i have is UO21. I'm tired of the loud vibrating the drive does, and was hoping a newer firmware would handle the drive better. i'm not too interested in region free, although i guess it would be nice.

anyone?

Do you have the exact model # of the cdrw? Is it the same one in the 170B4?

Well, it looks like UO21 is the latest... many people with dell's killed their drives trying to flash, so beware...
