Volvo S60 vs BMW M235i vs C7

If your going to get a Vette - wait and see if the 2015's will come with the 8spd Auto - significantly better than the 6spd they currently have.

As stated earlier - Z51 is a must for resale.

That's akin to playing the wait and see game with video cards or pretty much anything else. I'm looking to purchase (or order) in June when I'm settled in after the move.

Meh, looks like every other 4 door jellybean on the planet to me. In fact, it looks a lot like the current Nissan Altima IMO.

I think the Volvo looks awesome, but that's just personal taste. Please remember that I like Taco Bell. 😛

While I like both the Volvo and the BMW... this isn't a fair competition. If you don't need the practicality that the Volvo brings, and you can afford the C7... you get the C7. Neither of the other two cars will touch it as far as performance is concerned (and you still get a damn nice interior).

The price isn't really a factor because all three cars cost within 2k of each other. When I ask all my friends about the Corvette they kinda laugh and say I'm a little young for a mid-life crisis, say they'll get me a pair of Corvette embroidered driving gloves, etc.

Get the c7 man. I'm as big a BMW fan as anyone but the c7 kills the m235i . the polestar is interesting since it's unique but the platform its on is not a real sports car platform.

Or buy a cayman/boxster (what I'm getting if I was spending c7 money)

Speaking as someone who is middle age and rides a Ducati I say fuck your friends.

And when they ask for a ride or, gasp, can i drive it, make sure you tell em hell no it's way too geezer for you.

vette gloves, embroidered mats, license plate covers, and keyrings always welcome. xmas is easy with a corvette.

Get a set of the llyod's mats. They are freaking awesome. Nicest mats I have ever seen. And yah corvette are a little mid-life crisisy, but they are freaking awesome cars. The demographic also means the insurance is dirty cheap for that type of car.

Corvette all the way if you like to go fast. Forget the BMW. That is a POS compared to the other two cars. Volvo I think it is a classy ride. Can't go wrong with that. Shocks me that they cost that much money though.

How long do the plan on owning the car?

<5 years = C7

>5 years = Volvo

I get the impression that a Volvo will stay nice longer than the C7 will. Chevy had to save costs somewhere...

Insurance on the C7 is still double the BMW or Volvo.

Have you ever owned a European car? Out of warranty maintenance & parts on a Corvette are probably 50% less than for the BMW or Volvo. I've owned several BMWs and Volvos before.

That's why I said I'd lease the BMW or Volvo but buy the Corvette.

I have a friend who had a Volvo. He said the newer ones are junk, always in the shop. I really see nothing special about this car.

Edmunds estimates the stingray will be $12,773 over 5 years to insure.

The volvo s60 t6 (not sure if the special edition affects this) $6922
The bmw wasn't specifically listed, but I put in a 335 coupe, but no M package. Close as I could get. $12,463.

So the C7 is pretty much the same as the BMW. The volvo is really cheap though.

Corvette is A's across the board.

😱 Holy crap! My Ducati doesn't cost anywhere near that to insure even with full coverage.

Hell, combined, my motorcycle, 2 cars, homeowners and life insurance don't cost that much.

I don't know who hates on you for always ragging on everything but I'm starting to understand why. You have one friend, who got a bad one, and they are nothing special? Same can be said for your duc.

$60k sports car versus $7k duc? You can't be serious.

Bikes are cheap to insure because they're cheap. They can't easily kill other people. I don't know why I have to explain this.

And that equates to what, $250 a month? That's peanuts for a sports car. And if all your insurance doesn't add up to $250 a month then you either have easily replaceable stuff or live in the boonies.

That was for a chicagoland zip code. God knows what assumptions they are making on the driver. With insurance YMMV. Just showing relative cost.

Then why is motorcycle insurance so expensive for riders in their 20s?

I was wrong earlier, our insurance is a little higher than $250/month. But that's for 2 cars, a motorcycle, a house and life insurance.

Why so angry bro?

Yeah, that seems kind of high. I bet I could do a lot better through USAA.

Have you checked? That's surprising. Corvettes are generally one of the cheapest sports car to insure. I pay about $650 a year to insure my C6.

Yeah I checked all three. The Volvo & BMW are basically the same as my current Acura TL, $110 a month. The Corvette is $220 a month.

As the years go on, you get more negative and judgmental in ATG where it's really out of place.

I'm not sure what insecurities you have that cause this, but I'm not the only one that's noticed it. Read your posts in this thread.

I'm sorry, I thought this was a place we could express our opinions.

If I'm out of line, which I'm sure all of us are from time to time, I apologize. Don't take it so seriously.

That doesn't seem right. I've had an a4 and a 328 and both were around $13-1400 a year...

I don't think it's much different to get a coupe either.

I've been paying that rate for 7 years now. If anything I'm overpaying now since the car is 7 years old.
