Are the promo-codes only available for the monthly plan?
When I use a code in the annual plan, there's no indication of free phones -- at least all the way till I get to putting in my name, address, etc. Is there some sign that I'm actually using a good code in the annual plan? (When I enter it into the field on the first page, I'm directed to a page that tells me about the great deal + phones... but I want to save even more with the annual deal)

I know posting actual codes aren't allowed here... but can someone comment about where I can actually see that phones are included? (with the annual plan)

I've had it with Qwest. I've had unresolved billing issues since November where each CSR promises me the error won't continue... but they do!

edit: for clarity

I want to beat up on this thing for a month before disconnecting my POTS line.
Me too!

I have also been waiting to do the porting of my ph # over to the SunRocket but it appears that there is no help on the web.

Anyone done this yet?:D:D:D

That being said, it seems like most people (me including) have been able to hook it up behind a router without forwarding any ports and it still works fine...

Yeah, now that you mention it, I see this in the instructions. But, since I am running the gizmo behind the firewall, it gets a DHCP address, and when I type that in, nothing happens. I am using the WAN port, so this is probably why I get no response. I will try using the LAN connection, see if this still works for VOIP, it should definitely get me into the admin page, though. I just don't like the idea of running this thing in front of the router...

Okay, so after changing to the LAN port, I can get into the first page by using the DHCP address, but the password specified in the QIG does not work. Tried calling SunRocket CS, but they were either busy, or it was too late. Anybody know the password, or is it specific to each gizmo? When the gizmo is connected to my LAN through the LAN port, I cannot make any calls, which makes sense, I guess they route everything through the WAN port.

There is a way to access the gizmo's admin stuff behind a router. To do it, you have to change your router's DHCP config so that it assigns in the format: 192.168.251.xxx (This is the gateway.) But it's really not worth it now. The only thing that you can really do in the software is check the FW version you have. Most of the other stuff doesn't work or isn't that helpful.

Anyway, the default password is welcome

Enter the promo code when you sign up and finish the registration. There won't be any indication of the free phones on the order form. But I think it says so in the receipt email they send you. :p

Ok... I'm going to take the jump. But first a question for those that have already, regarding transfering my existing phone#.

Many years ago, after being "slammed" (LD carrier changed without my consent) I complained to my phone-company and they offered to "lock my account" so it couldn't be done again. (I said "yes!")
Is an account lock going to cause a problem with the transfer? Or is that what the whole written authorization form is about?

Also, any confirmation that the free-phone deal is still going? I'll check f4tw4llet to see if there's any word.

thanks

Has anyone else experienced a dramatic drop in bandwidth when putting the gizmo in front of your router? i'd really like to take advantage of the gizmo's automatic bandwith managment features when I'm on the phone, but don't want to give up the speed when I'm not using the phone.

I've been doing quite a bit of reading up on this deal -- and the chat over at dslreports.com indicate that this is common. Some people have played around with the settings under the web-management tool with some success.
Most people are opting to put the gizmo behind the router -- where they say it works fine.

From what I've seen, if you encounter any voice quality problems then just give them a call and get them to upgrade your firmware. It takes approx 20mins and most ppl said that most of the problems they were having are gone. :p

I noticed someone on the dslreports formun indicated they got some firdge magnets, keyboard brush and letter opener in additoin to teh $20 calling card. Did anyone receive those things recently? or was that only for the early adopters?

Well, I called Sunrocket CSR last night about my drop in download speed when the gizmo is in front of the router. Tech called me back today and said that they're having representatives from the manufacturer of the Gizmo in their office next week and they will talk to them about this problem. I asked if it was common or not, and the tech said that it is not common at all, and they are trying to work on little weird things like this with the manufacturer.

btw, I did speed tests last night, and it seems like my download speed with the gizmo in front of the router is about 1/4 the speed that it is behind (~1000kbs vs. 4000kbs)

I think Telco is really going to have to get the gizmo as user friendly as possible to make sure they keep their contract w/ SunRocket.

juno,
I have the gizmo into the router into the cable modem and everything still works fine.
Are you doing voice over? or trying for something like a videophone over?
Thanks for keeping on trying to resolve the issues. :D:D:D

I just got mine hooked up. Nice phones, service sounds clearer then regular phone. Made several calls while playing WOW, no issues. Gizmo I put it after the router, not in-between.

the reason I want to have the gizmo between cable modem and router is to ensure the best call quality possible. When I hook up the gizmo behind the router, and am uploading something with my computer, the outgoing voice quality drops significantly--it sounds like stuttering/missed syllables. I don't want to have to think about pausing whatever I'm doing everytime I pick up the phone. When I have the gizmo in front of the router, the call quality is much much better when I'm uploading something on my computer.

PS just to clarify, my dl speed drops with the gizmo in front regardless of whether or not I am on the phone.
