Doh! Ride, that stinks. Sounds like a pain. I hate changing out my routers and network stuff. I just can't seem to get it right. Case in point, my new router has decided not to let my Mac connect to it, even though I'm using the exact same settings as on my PC. As a result (because I'm tech-stupid), I had to use my old Airport express and plug that into the ethernet port on the router to create a second wireless network for my Mac.

At least all the networks don't interfere with my Unidens.

OK, so I've been using it now for about a week. Some dropped calls, and some voice wierdness here and there, but sometimes works well. If I could get it to be consistent I would be very happy with it. Any ideas? I tried logging in the the gizmo to adjust Qos settings, didn't seem to make a difference.

When I re-subscribed last Monday I tried to do so using my old login info and it said my Email address was already in use. I then called Sunrocket and went through the process over the phone. I got the 15 months for $200 deal with overnight shipping on my Gizmo but no Uniden 2.4Ghz phones. It took about 30 minutes because she was getting the same error I was when trying to use my Email. Eventually she was able to get it working - or that's what she told me. When I tried to log in I got a page saying my account would be activate shortly. I was never able to log in that day so I sent an Email. They replied the next day saying it would be activated shortly. That day went by and I still couldn't log in. I sent another Email and they replied saying they were putting an engineer on the problem. I was able to log in the following day. All this time my Gizmo had not arrived and in each Email I mentioned that I was still waiting. In the last Email they said it was ready to ship but couldn't provide a tracking number.

I contacted Sunrocket via Email a few days ago asking about my Gizmo and if I would get the 2.4Ghz phones because I obviously didn't get overnight shipping. ;) I got a reply saying my package didn't qualify. No biggie - I was likely going to sell them anyway as I've got 5.8's already. So I get home from work yesterday and see a package from Sunrocket. Yes! They finally delivered my Gizmo. I open the box and guess what's in there. Yep - a set of Uniden 2.4Ghz phones. Oh well, I guess I'll be listing them on Ebay. :p

Still waiting on my Gizmo though...

But why would they send you another gizmo if you are re-subscribing? By "re-subscribibg" you mean "renewing", don't you?

They're sending me another gizmo because my old one is assumed to be bad. I'm not renewing. I had the service for a while and canceled because I was having issues that weren't getting resolved. I wanted my gizmo swapped and Sunrocket didn't want to do that so I canceled and went with Vonage.

FWIW, the call quality on Vonage was on par with Sunrocket but Vonage doesn't pass your name in outbound CallerID. That's a big missing feature in my opinion. At 2x the price of Sunrocket you'd think they'd be able to do that, huh? ;)

Update: I called Sunrocket on Saturday. They tracked my original gizmo shipment and said it showed 'delivered' but couldn't tell me who signed for it. I know it wasn't me or my neighbor. They're shipping another one to my work address. Should be here on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll be back up and running soon.

Robor,
Bad UPS AND bad neighbors...what a combo!

A couple years ago, I ordered some memory and it shipped UPS.
About two days after it was supposed to show up, someone called from about 20 blocks away and said that they had seen it fall off the turnip wagon. :D:D:D I was glad for a good neighbor.

So lets talk about the hot deal and not so much tech stuff.

Is this really that great of a deal, I'd like to get the $10 a month but I would not get the free phones and have to pay $40 for the gizmo.

Free phones would be more per month but could I lower the service after a couple months and keep the phones?

Thanks guys!
Also someone let me know about their service in the MN area.

snowdogg-

This is a heck of a deal, no matter how you slice it.

The $10 per month deal DOES come with the 2 free phones.

It is a decent deal IF you are going to make calls to one of the 41 international destinations listed as their Sunspots (in addition to the US, Canada, and PR.) However, it does not come with unlimited minutes, voicemail, extra number or $3 international call allowance. Plus you have to pay the $40 equipment fee.

Better is the current package-deal they offer. It is 15 months for $199, and when you CALL into SALES (not use the online signup procedure) and ask them for the 2 free phones they will give it to you. You may have to try a few times, but people have reported getting that deal when calling in)

That means that you are getting 15 months for $199 and also a $50 phone system.
Deducting the phone value it is $149 for 15 months=$9.93 per month. And that includes unlimited minutes, second number (signature number,) voicemail (on both numbers,) a free phone adapter and a $3 international call allowance. Better deal, IMO.

Keep in mind that they have a free trial for 31 days, no shipping cost, and never a cancellation fee. The 1-year deal is not a committment as it can be cancelled at any time and they pay you back a prorated refund of the unused portion of your $199.

OK I got my free phones from the re-up deal, and get this, they sent me two sets of phones instead of two phones (so I have 4 more now). Crazy stuff, but I'm not complaining. :)

Oh yeah, I did get billed for the renewal, $199 on 3/23. No monthly charge showed up for the 2/16-3/15 month that I was supposedly on monthly instead of annual (due to them not processing my renewal on the web). So I don't really know when my current plan expires next year but I guess I could call them and check.

They'd probably send me two more sets of phones just for asking (kidding!).

I signed up 10 days ago for 15 months at $199. I asked for the two free phones and they said ok. (I used the 1-800-786-0132 number that someone else recommended.)

The gizmo showed up, but no free phones. I called customer support and they said sorry, it's either offer but not both. I said I still wanted my free phones. They said they couldn't do anything, but that the sales department might be able to do it so they tranfered me.

The sales people explained it was not supposed to be both offers, but since I was told I would get free phones they would send them out to me. Hopefully I'll get them in a week or so.

Al_Z-

Yeah, the offer is really for EITHER 15 months OR the free phones. Then someone here asked for both goodies and got em. We all piggy-backed onto that rascal's experience, a la "hey, not fair. Why would HE get it and not me." It snowballed into everyone getting it, but you may have to try a few times to get to a sales guy who had done it for others and thus was obligated. The ones who check with their supervisors usually come back with a confirm.

GT_Fan-

You are one lucky dude. Give it a week and maybe another phone system will show up on your doorstep. Soon you'll be able to open a "Uniden 2-phone Speakerphone" store and make a bundle. :D

Anyone else not getting any inbound calls? I call my own phone and it goes straight to voice mail. Wife is at home and can call out without any issues.

There's a note on SR's site that says:

SunRocket has corrected the service disruptions that affected some customers early this morning. A recent network upgrade caused some some customers to be unable to receive calls, however calls should have been able to reach Voicemail. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

But it's still not working for me.

Reset your gizmo --- or wait (a potentially long time) and it will re-register itself to SR

I was gone, so I don't know if mine was out or not. It's working now for me, though -- no reset required for me.
