I ordered on the 1st and I just checked the order status, the scanner (but not the paper clips) is scheduled to arrive today. Will they really waste the time/money to ship those 17 cent paper clips seperately?

Yes they will ship the paper clips... I live out of the delivery area and one time Staples UPS'd me the paper clips seperately :)

Not only will they deliver the paper clips, they most likely will send them in a large box.

It's no wonder they are downsizing.

So, I went to the door this morning, and it was staples. The guy was new, and when I followed him out to the truck, he couldn't find the scanner; so I pointed it out to him. Turned out, that one was going to someone nearby (btw-- is there another ATer in the Silver Spring area? If so, I want my scanner! :) ). So, he got on the phone with someone, left, and came back with a large box (about 8in x 10in x 5in ~ 20cm x 25cm x 12cm) filled with one package of 100 push pins (cost me $.44). They just spent almost an hour of two employees' time to send me push pins, and the scanner's apparently not coming until the 8th!

Gotta love it,

Me

I'd never user pricematch with AMEX. I see people posts and tell us to PM with AMEX Blue. I've got an American Express Platinum card, must I have the AMEX Blue to pricematch??? Can someone break it down to me?

I have a Delta Skymiles Platinum Card. It comes with the best value guarantee. You don't have to have Amex Blue for this.

Ordered on Friday, received today. I called a CSR to confirm that the $20 off coupon doesn't negate the rebate and she said it would not be a problem. Also looked up inventory and they are getting low so if you are interested in this you had better jump on it quick.

Maybe this is a widely known fact, but I did an experiment by putting my Staples Order Number into the "search by reference number" field at www.ups.com and it worked! It found my scanner shipment. UPS says it will be here tomorrow, Staples' site says the 8th. Also my paperclips just arrived. :)

I think the Paperport software that comes with this is v. 6+ which doesn't work with XP and paperport has no update for it. If this is true, I think I'll wait. Anyone have a different thought? Thanks.

I just went to my local B&m and was able to price match to 59.99 that one site that was posted earlier, he didn't even bat an eye, just said ok. At the register I told him that it was ten bucks for shipping. I know I could have made money on this deal. But why rip them off? Hey a scanner for .96 cents is awsome. Besides they are shutting down stores in some areas. Gotta keep my cheap source alive.

Was a little concerned that the documentation did not mention W2K plus the fact that you get a dialog box warning that the software may not work with my OS. Everything seems to be working fine. Not the fastest scanner at higher resolutions but for $10 it's great for rebate documentation ;)

Cool. I ordered mine and it says they'll deliver tomorrow. Not bad for a 42-bit scanner. I like that it's on the MS list for compatible with XP. Thanks for the heads-up!

Paperport:
Paper port has a print driver which allows you to print things directly into the paper port filing system. So if you had something on screen, like a web page, you could click print and select paper port as the printer and it would send the output to it. I used to do this for saving online receipts and stuff.

The problem with older versions is that they are no NT/2K/XP compatible. so that might be why you get the compatibility warning.

If you don't use this feature older versions of paperport might work fine.

Whitneymuse,

The box says that it comes with PaperPort Deluxe 6, but the CD included in my box was PaperPort Deluxe 7 for Windows 95/98/NT4.0/2000/ME/XP.

Found this on their website for those like me who received version 6.1 deluxe

The following are known issues with PaperPort and PaperPort Deluxe 6.1 when installed on Windows 2000:
PaperPort print drivers are not installed.
The following dialog comes up when you attempt to run PaperPort: "This program does not run correctly on this version of Windows. To continue, click Run Program. To exit, click Cancel. For more information, click Details."
Users are not able to "Create a new link" in PaperPort.
Users are not able to use PaperPort when installed as an administrator.
Icons for NT Imaging and MS Paint do not show up on the Link bar.
Error message when attempting to use FormTyper.
PaperPort crashes after scanning a document.

CAUSE
PaperPort was released before Windows 2000. Therefore, it was not designed for use with it. The problems are the result of changes made to Windows 2000, which are not fully compatible with PaperPort.

SOLUTION
Click here to download a Windows 2000 update for PaperPort Deluxe 6.1. This update will provide solutions to the problems listed above with the exception of print drivers. For Windows 2000 print drivers it is necessary to upgrade to PaperPort Deluxe 7.0.

Man! Even though my order went through and showed as shipping tomorrow, now my order shows as unavailable--out of stock. I called and talked to a rep and they said since the item isn't discontinued, it should be back in 3-5 days, still in time for the rebate to be good. [Fingers crossed.] So it may come back on the site.

The combo arrived today. Nice deal. I say it combo because the clip box is attached on the scanner box, not like usual sent in a seperate BIG box. I like the way. $20 coupon is in the shipping slip. Nothing missed.

Inspected the scanner, quite decent one, with two cables, one USB cable, one parelle cable. The both cables already cost about $10.

Phone for status today - scanner being delivered Tuesday and Scotch Tape (ordered to put me over the $100 mark) being delivered WEDNESDAY - go figure.

Is this any way to run a business?
