I had a couple questions about the rebate part. When you send in your reciept to get the rebate do you send in the reciept you print out when you buy it online or do you send the reciept that comes with the actual shipped product?
Also is it safe to send in the rebate online. I notice that staples gives you that option.

Thanks for any help
PM's are welcome as well

Darn!! Tried all evening not to get in on this, but I finally gave in.

Time to retire the old scsi scanner that I got at a bargain of only $249.00

Man how times change...

You send in a copy of your packing slip. I always send a copy of the receipt they email me too. Better to send too much than not enough.

I've never done a rebate online so I can't help you there.

Thanks! This will replace the UMAX 2010U that I got through a hot deal here over a year ago. I had to get the drivers for that one from UMAX's Europe site or something in order to get it to work with Win2000. But even so, it would still give me problems every once and a while. Now I have WinXP and it recognized the scanner when I plugged it in, but I still got the problem once where it said it wasn't connected. So this 100% WinXP compat. scanner better be good. I'll sell my UMAX to someone for $10 and then come out even on this deal.

Thanks for your help carmann. Has anyone ever used staples online rebate requests? Is it faster? Do you still have to mail in the upc code with it?
Thanks for any help

Is it faster? Well, once you have registered at their website you don't have to enter your information on the rebate form anymore 🙂. I don't think that getting the rebate is any faster. You still need to print out the form and mail it in with the UPC and receipt. The good part is you get email from them confirming the rebate in their system, and you can keep that email and go back and use the link in it to check on the status of your rebate. Given that Staplesrebates.com's search capability is seriously broken if you have more than a few rebates in the system, this is invaluable.

I ordered this after midnight so the $20 off $75 had expired. I had problems getting it to accept one of the $20 off $100 (after adding some 19c paper clips) but it finally did and I got the order submitted. However, I have not received a confirmation email from them which past experience has shown to indicate that there was some problem with my order. Am I being too concerned about this? Will my email confirmation show up in the morning?

I got ssame email issue. Will check it again tomorrow.

Be Concerned! I went through this link to check my order status and it only showed the scanner with no paper clips or coupon. However when I signed into Staples.com and clicked check order history, everything looked fine. I just got off the phone with them and they said their system put a hold on my order because it appears that any items that have a letter in the beginning of the item number, for instance the paper clip item # is apcoxxxxx, the system is not accepting. She tried to input the paper clips manually and it still wouldn't take. She then asked me if the only reason I ordered the paper clips was to get the order over $100, I said yes. She said I'll take care of it and overrode the system to take the $20 off my order.

Grumble grumble... I guess I will also have to call, or see if they automatically release them in the morning. I actually placed a second order, a co-worker has been asking about a scanner and I figured maybe the 2nd order would have better luck than the first and worst case if I end up with 2 I sell him one plus this way I get extra Dividends points. I used a $20 off coupon on each order.. if I was absolutely sure that AMEX Blue would PM, then I'd skip the coupons and collect the Dividends points on an extra $20 per order (I assume you don't get them for the coupon discount).

BTW does AMEX Blue PM not take shipping charges into account for websites? Could I buy this in store for $99 and just call to PM the website? I've had Blue for a few months but never used it. Oh, and could I PM 2 of the same item?

This is because Order History simply shows what you submitted, not what was ultimately processed by their back-end system. It's basically useless for verifying that your order has been accepted. Order Status is what you want, and that's not showing up.

Bill, just keep checking. It took about 45 mins for it to show up through the link I provided.

Post back and let me know if your order was like mine.

**edit**
My cc was authorized the correct amount so maybe all is ok after all.

I don't have Amex blue, but I just snagged one anyway-- costs me just $14.00 after tax and rebate. It will replace my other $10 Visioneer I got from Staples last year. The side lifting lid in very key feature to me, as I have my scanner on a bookshelf, and access will be alot more convienent.

Thanks for the post.

Paper clips are so boring, so I ordered some fine writing instruments. Everything looks good. Thanks for the post!!!

hey peter, you better edit your post to get rid of that coupon code!

I just ordered mine for 84.18 shipped. Does anyone know if they deliver from the B&M on Saturdays? My B&M is like 8 miles away, but I wanted to use the $20 off coupon.

regarding confirmation e-mail...i too never received one, although the order status page now says my order has been shipped, via "staples courier".

I got an email saying the paper clips I used to push the total over 100 was out of stock. They said my order would be cancelled if I didnt respond within 3 days with a substition.
What's this all about?

Both of my orders are showing up under "order status" as well, with UPS delivery (the scanners both arrive 2/8 although I'll bet it's sooner).

The paper clips I ordered were part UNV72210, 19c. Perhaps the 17c ones are out of stock? Of course, it all depends on your area.

PS a friend who also ordered this called his local store and got the UPC for the scanner so he could create the online rebate form immediately. It's 785414103652.

I noted the rebate form says "not valid with any other offer, promotion or rebate"...does that mean using the $20 off coupon invalidates the $70 rebate? I've noticed these before and the rebates worked anyhow, anyone had a problem with double dipping?
