Finally saw all these. I like the show. Whoever said GoT Lite hit it pretty close imo. One thing I find fascinating is the battle technique. Think that's legit? Setup a wall of shields, then open up, yank someone through, and ruin their day.

Good question. Got my afternoon planned now, gonna do some interneting about that!

Plus the theme song rules. Vikings and The Bridge have the two best theme songs on tv.

The shield wall was (and still is, check riot police) a pretty common strategy.

The Romans did this, and so did the Greeks. This strategy is probably as old as the shield itself.

At least according to movies...

almost finished with this series, really loving it.

But oh-my-god episode 1 was horrible. I almost didn't even watch episode 2 until I read online that everything picks up real quickly

Haven't watched it yet, but looking forward to watching it tonight. I like the premise and the story, and I like that (at least so far), there isn't a whole bunch of magic/supernatural garbage in it.

There's some mysticism stuff with the seer but no, not really.

Season 3 (2015)

On March 25, 2014, History renewed Vikings for a ten-episode third season.[7] When asked what viewers could expect from the next season, Michael Hirst explained: "Yeah, we’re gonna attack Paris. Paris was the most extraordinary city. It was still a Roman city, and it was like nothing else on earth. We’re just building that, at the moment, on the backlot. It will also be CGI. Ragnar attacked Paris with one hundred ships."[8]

The show is absolutely awesome. I can't wait for Season 3.

I do find Ragnar's obsession with Athelstan peculiar...

I think he's trying to learn as much as he can about the christians with whom he's both doing battle as well as business.

I was glad to see them announce Season 3 is in the works.

my favorite would probably be the bow

so if we include medium weight spears that can be used both in melee and throwing you sould still go for the tomahawk?

Me? fuck no...I want a high-powered rifle so I can kill you from at least 200 yards. I'm too old and busted up for the hand-to-hand combat anymore.

Twas a time when I might have looked forward to taking a knife to a gunfight though... ():)
