I'm not sure I like the western European direction the show is going. I preferred the more Scandinavian focus of the first season or two.

I love this show and everything about it. I still have issues with the way the actors portray the accent though. I can just feel them struggling so bad with it it is quite distracting

That must be why actors in american produced dramas just use the english accent when portraying foreigners. We can readily associate that accent with someone abroad and it's something we are also used to. When we hear something that is unusual, we pay much more attention to it.

Scandinavian language is kind of weird. It's very "circular", with a lot of the sound coming from the top of the mouth, and is tiresome for an English speaker, or at least this English speaker.

Anyone watching this? I think the show's held up pretty well. They're still telling a good story without getting too ridiculous. It's a little wide ranging now, and hard to do justice to all the story lines, but it's still entertaining. The biggest problem I have with it is in the speed at which they travel the world, but ship voyages aren't all that interesting.

I don't think it's lost a beat since Ragnar's death (which surprises me). Floki is still killing it, and Ivar has really grown on me. I'm really enjoying the storyline with Bjern too. The actor looks like he's having a lot of fun with the role.

Yea, Ivar's personality is really getting fleshed out. There's more there than a simple psychopath. I don't know if they planned it this way from the start, but they left so many threads with the initial couple seasons, I think the show could go on forever and remain interesting, as long as they don't get stupid about it.

Still enjoyable for me and been watching Nightfall as well.

BUT

So why did the middles eastern whomever and his woman want to kill Ragnar's son and his two companions. Still don't understand that.

Lagertha Rules!!! So Hot, always will be!

Ivar gets better and better. The Bishop sucks, didnt care for him in the Tudors either.

The treatment of Astrid will be avenged. I would not want to be on the receiving end of that one.

Anyone have an answer to this?

Nope. I didn't get that either. My only guess is she used them to get where she wanted to be, and after that they were merely 'loose ends'. Not sure that warrants a killing, but women...
