You can set the white point manually using a densitometer and choosing "user color". Typically the software that comes with the densitometer will automatically generate a color profile for your panel. I just went through this last night using a Spyder and it made a big difference.

I am trying as much as I can do to get a good calibration for my monitor, but nothing seems to be working as the colours always seem to be off. I did try using the icc profile included in the disc, but it made everything seemed to bright and the colours did not look correct.
If anybody has any settings that work (especially with NVIDIA drivers), please let me know! Thanks!
It's strange. All my 10 years old PCs are still working, but my two monitors fried after 3 and 5 years usage. My viewsonic monitor is also burned after 3 years of usage. Maybe I'm so unlucky monitor person? Who knows?Originally posted by: videopho
I don't mean to thread-crap anyone but I do not see any good logic as to why's investing a large amount of cash for a 4:3 monitor anymore as the whole nation is transitioning onto widescreen HDTV. A monitor is not something you upgrade every other year and it does usually and easily outlast your PC.

Ive tested the monitor in compusa. It does have clearly seeable banding issues in DVI and the color, if 8bit at all, is again, clearly gimped. light Gameing and general use monitor.
