Wow, with the way LCD prices are just dropping like a rock, it's tempting to jump on this deal as this is easily one of the better 20" WS out there, especially for the money. But with prices dropping like this I'm encouraged to keep waiting for 23" or bigger.

You can set the white point manually using a densitometer and choosing "user color". Typically the software that comes with the densitometer will automatically generate a color profile for your panel. I just went through this last night using a Spyder and it made a big difference.

Yeah, the inquirer had a story a week back that a large surplus of manufactored LCDs backlogged from last year coupled with roughly 90% of Europe already having bought one is predicted to cause the prices to drop into the toilet throughout this month and next.

Thats the inquirer though so who knows? But so far...

yeah thats why im waiting a bit longer to get a 2nd vx2025wm when the price drops below 300. why risk a $100 rebate that i may or may not get in 10-12 weeks.. :D

But it's ok, i hate mail-in rebate with a passion.

I am trying as much as I can do to get a good calibration for my monitor, but nothing seems to be working as the colours always seem to be off. I did try using the icc profile included in the disc, but it made everything seemed to bright and the colours did not look correct.

If anybody has any settings that work (especially with NVIDIA drivers), please let me know! Thanks!

I set the white point in the monitor setup, not the Nvidia driver. The factory 6500K setting was off by about 20 Kelvin. I expect this will be a bit different for each monitor. They Sypder software generated a color profile for me after that. I can email the profile file over to you if you want to try it.

Just PM me with your email address.

I ordered the vx2025wm from newegg on thursday for $352.99... not that bad. It's actually down to $349.99 right now. I prefer that deal than the hassle of dealing with mail in rebates.

That said, I should be getting it on monday, or tuesday at the latest. :)

I'm thinking about jumping on this, but I'm somewhat hesitant. I haven't been able to find any info on upscaling/downscaling for this monitor. Can anyone with this monitor confirm if it can nicely downscale 1080p or upscale 720p (mainly for use with the PS3).

Got the monitor today, and I've been pleasantly surprised. The quality is excellent, no dead pixels (although, that's based on luck), and simply put, everything looks beautiful on this monitor.

I've yet to play any games at 1680x1050... I'll have to wait and upgrade my video hardware first.

I want this so bad I can taste it, even though LCD substrate tastes awful.

The question I'm mulling over is: If there's a dead pixel or two scattered about, is Buy or J&R more accomodating? (or neither?)

Viewsonic rebates are not reliable. You can be lucky, however I never got rebate from them. I did multiple calls but still nothing.

It's strange. All my 10 years old PCs are still working, but my two monitors fried after 3 and 5 years usage. My viewsonic monitor is also burned after 3 years of usage. Maybe I'm so unlucky monitor person? Who knows?

Ive tested the monitor in compusa. It does have clearly seeable banding issues in DVI and the color, if 8bit at all, is again, clearly gimped. light Gameing and general use monitor.

I got mine from J&R, no dead pixels. I don't believe it has banding, either. I'm pretty pleased.

COMPusa probably has it connected to a 10 port analog KVM switch from 1994.
