does the temprature bug in 71.84 affects the Geforce FX series cards, I got a FX 5900XT, will it increse the increse the idle tempratue in my case

have the ATI 9800 Pro - why is there a driver version for "control center" and another version for "CATALYST control center" ? How is the latter different (how would I benefit from it) ?

It is a misread temperature probe. Your card does not actually increase in temperature.

As for the 9800Pro: They are the same thing, IIRC one is just the Control Panel, one is the drivers and the control panel.

Hey all,
Hope you can help. I just installed the new 71.84 drivers from Nvidia. I've got an 8x AGP 6800 Ultra. I usually keep my refresh rate at 85 hz but now I've noticed that my desktop is at 85 hz but when I load my games I get anything from 60hz to 75 hz. Anything but 85 that is.
I've noticed that in the Display properties, there is no longer a refresh rate over ride tab like there was with the former driver. What's up with that! Cause I think that is exactly what I need right now.
How can I override with this new driver?
As always, any help is appreciated.

hsa anyone tried the new Cat. 5.3 drivers? They dropped my 3DMark05 scores my a little over 1,000 points.

As soon as I discovered that you can't set large or custom DPI fonts in display properties with the 5.3 drivers (you can select them but it does nothing), I flushed 'em and went back to 5.2.

I used the Official WHQL 71.84 drivers, and the Xtreme G 75.90a drivers, and with both of these drivers I have white horizontal lines (1-3 pixels wide, I would guess, variable lengths) that appear when I play various games, including WoW (not as much) and two of the games that came with my card, Commandos 3 and X2: The Threat... So not sure if that's a driver problem, or what's going on at the moment... Any ideas?

howdy,
I just installed the new 71.84 nvidia drivers for my bfg6800gt. My 3dmarks has gone up and performance seems to be up in my games. I cant overclock as much after I installed the new video driver. Any one else have this problem? My power supply is cheap and I believe its the cause of my low overclock in the first place, but now instead of 385 I can barely hit 370. Any thing above that it gets lock ups. Does the new driver run the card harder?

I switched to the 66.93 official drivers, and the problem is fixed... so apparently the new drivers have some problems with them...

71.84 added 280 points to my 3DMark05 score with 66.93, from 4742 to 5022 without any other changes, but it also added 10C to my GPU core temp from 65 to 75. Also, my Doom3 timedemo went from 51 to 52.2 on 1280x1024, high setings, and with vsync on. So, I would say that it is faster but it is hot. 65C was hot in my opinion but 75C is a bit too much. I am waiting for the Zalman fan and I hope it will get GPU temp down. Any idea about my temps?

Do you not have refresh rate problems? Or are you not using a CRT monitor? My desktop runs at 85Hz but when I boot up a game it drops. Can't override. Tried Refresh Force and some games wouldn't run. Anyone know a fix for refresh rate overrides with 71.84 drivers?

This is known issue with the drivers and is a problem with the reporting, not with the heat of your card. You can see the issue writen in the release notes.

Thanks for all the updates. This thread is getting massive. I really need to try to rent a server. If anyone can host that would be AWESOME!!

Seems that Nvidia has slowed down on the beta drivers. However i will update the ATI omega and DNA drivers.

Thanks again,
-Kevin

Are you looking to rent a server to host all of the beta drivers on? I might be able to help, but we'd defnitely need to put a cap on the speeds. 😉 PM me with details of what you had in mind.

Updated with the new Nvidia drivers. I wish ATI would release some beta drivers but, hey they release everymonth as it is so its all good i guess.
