75.90 v. Xtreme G 75.90a

Xtreme G 75.90a shows gains of about 1.5-1.3% over 75.90 across Aquamark, 3DMark03, and 3DMark05. Xtreme G's IQ seems to be at least as good as 75.90. Totally subjective, but I really thought Aquamark looked sharper and more vibrant under Xtreme G 75.90a.

Unfortunately, both drivers do not fix the "shiny grass" in CS:Source de_aztec. The modded drivers have been stable on my main rig so far.

Link to Xtreme G drivers on Gamingphreek's OP in this thread.

Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering when they were going to come out. Drivers updated.

Anyone have any news on the net 5.3's.... i dont have an ATI card that i can test these with right now and none of the other forums have it out yet.

Xtreme G 75.90a vs. 71.84 vs. Xtreme G 71.84

The Xtreme G 75.90a runs just a hair faster (+0.5%) than the 71.84?s, but 71.84?s don?t have shiny grass in CS: Source, de_aztec.

In a head to head for the 71.84's, on Aquamark, 3DMark03, & 3DMark05, the original beta and the Xtreme G versions are with in +/- .05% of each other with Xtreme G winning Aquamark and 3DMark05 and 71.84 winning 3DMark03. In other words, nearly within the normal variation you might see in different runs on the same rig. I could not see any perceivable differences in IQ between the two, but I am no expert and I do not have the proper tools for a real comparison.

I just got the Catalyst 5.3's and they still drive my half-life fps into the ground (35-70fps for DoD). Looks like I'll skip back to 5.1, before the problems began.

has anybody else experienced lower performance and/or artifacts on the xtremeg drivers? I've tried a bunch of different ones, but keep seeing white boxes in HL2, and i seem to get a lot more stalling in games. Who knows, maybe there's something weird about my particular setup.

anyways, apparently there are some new 76.10 drivers from leadtek - you can get the file from guru3d forums, but it's password locked and no one's been able to crack it yet. Maybe tomorrow it'll be cracked.

Anyone know if the new support for openGL 2.0 in catalyst 5.3 will make any difference in any game?

It shouldn't as i dont know many games that support this. MIGHT slow it down a bit since it is so new.

I don't think supporting a newer version would slow down the older version, in fact I'd hope they'd optimized the older version as it is used more. I guess ATI isn't very good in the openGL area afterall. I don't notice that since I have maybe one openGL game...

Got the 76.10 drivers! sweet! it works great, no problems so far!

with 71.90:
3dmark03- 7420
3dmark 05- 3080

with 76.10:
03- 7650
05- 3200

good increase in performance! my temp is running around 41 on idle and 60 AT MOST in games
i have a 6600gt, p4 2.8ghz with HT, 512mb pc2700 ram

Waiting for XG 76.10 😀

We have a beta out and so far results are very good with perf up on just about anything.

great to hear 🙂

add me to the list of "waiting for XG76.10"

Im pretty happy with last XG driver 🙂

The 7184 drivers work very well and performance is up across the board, even in old games like GLQuake and Quake 2. Also many issues have been resolved including the nasty DEP one.
