Vick to be paid more than Manning....

No offense, but Vick isn't half the player Peyton is.

Vick is almost everything Manning is as a quarterback AND more. Do you see Peyton rushing for 48 yd touchdowns? I think not. Vick is without a doubt more valuable a player than Peyton Manning, when he's healthy of course.

He will get more money because he appeals to more younger fans, especially black and latin urban fans.

Manning is a much better quarterback, but he is also a good ole' boy from Tennessee. I don't see anybody wearing is jersey outside of Indy.

Vick's body will never make it in the NFL for a long period of time, and when he can't run anymore, his arm will not save him (because his throwing ability is so-so).

Vick as a quarterback is not even close to Manning. Manning, oustide of his abilty to run, is superior to Vick in every way.

hell no would i pay him more than Peyton Manning

Vick will miss a few games each year cause of the ONLY way he can play!!

at least with Manning you know he will be in there every week

Almost noone can compare to Peyton, especially during this year. Vick doesn't have the option to throw so much as Peyton does, he practically runs the entire offense himself. But yes, Peyton is a better QB by far.

young, black, latin urban fans don't buy season tickets. no need to pay him because he appeals to those fans.

they're paying what they think he's worth, simple as that.

They buy the jerseys, the hats, the expensive Nike shoes, and the video games though.

So much more money comes from that than from season ticket holders at one stadium. Vick simply appeals to the youth of today more than Manning does.

Vick isn't half the quarterback Manning is. Vick is electrifying to watch...only because he'll take off running. I'd rather watch a real quarterback (like Manning) shred a defensive backfield.

Actually, you cut off Mannings arms and there you go...

Sorry, but Vixk is nothing more than a tailback lining up behind center.

The league as a whole benefits from the popularity of the player when it comes to merchandising. how much money does the Falcons make from the video games, jerseys, etc. I say the same as all of the other teams.

you can't really judge Vick by his stat beause it's not that great. You can watch and judge on how he play to win the game. Did you watch the game last week with that amazing comeback?

Meh. It's always like this with contracts in pro sports. The latest one leapfrogging the one before. Of course, in the NFL, these salaries often get restructured(i.e. reduced) towards the end of their contracts. I don't think the Falcons are in a good situation by having to tie up so much money on a fragile 6-ft runner playing on astro turf, but they don't really have a choice, I suppose.

Manning is a FAR better quarterback.

However, they're BOTH very valuable to their teams and worth big salaries.

I doubt Peyton will lose any sleep over this.

I also watched his game against Giatns where he gained something like a total of 20 yards the second half, fumbled, got sacked for a huge loss almost threw a bad interception and pretty much singlehandedly almost lost the game.

but he didn't.

hhehehe

Vick reminds me of a slightly better Crudell Stewart, that unless he improves his QB skills will be out of a job in a few years, just like Crudell. I don't know why coaches and owners get enamored with these running QBs with mediocre throwing abilities.

its a foolish move, there is no way he'll be running like he is 5 years from now let alone 7.

Vick is essentially a very fast running back playing the role of QB. Running backs usually don't last that long unless they are built like tanks, of which Vick is far from a tank as he relies on speed and finess to gain yards.

Stewart was far more valuable as "Slash" than a full time starting QB. But somewhere somehow he convinced himself that he was a good QB and didn't want to be considered anything else.

Great athletes such as Stewart and Vick should swallow their pride and just play to whatever their team needs them to do. You could always tell the opposing team was crapping their pants whenever Stewart came out onto the field and lined up in an akward position, you knew they were thinking "WTF are they going to try and pull here?"

Pittsburgh did get a player similar in situation with Randle El, he does kick returns, plays as WR, and can even throw passes like he did vs. the Giants for a TD on what was an incredibly successful trick play considering he often gets handed the ball to run with as well.

If Atlanta could have bagged themselves a real QB as well and use Vick in such senarios I think they'd be even better off, but obviously that can't happen now becuase Vick has obviously convinced himself he's a QB just as much as Stewart has, if not even more so because of how the media nuts over him. (I always find it kind of funny how all his commercials seem to imply he takes every snap 80+ yards for a TD when I believe he had his longest run this year of just under 60 yards and I don't even think it was for a TD...)
