I'd better make more money so I can go to the events ... my kids will be 10 and 8.5 - Holy Crap Batman!

Anyone want to rent out my basement during the games? :D

Because the U.S. was too busy blowing up all the other 3rd world countries...so Canada was all that was left;):)

I think the clincher for Vancouver is that pot is okay here.

I think I heard a collective "hooray" from all the dope-smokin' snowboarders out there!

Maybe the IOC officials were licking their chops at the prospect of getting a brick of weed as part of their Olympic gift bag? Forget the collector pins!

Ross!? Where are you? (Rebagliati that is)

As I said in the other thread, TO's both happy and sad at the same time. We're happy cuz a fellow Canadian city got it; it truly will benefit Vancouver and Canada as a whole. We're sad, though, that TO won't get a chance at the Summer Games for at least a few decades probably.

Why would anyone in there right mind give the summer game to TO when it is hot, dirty & smelly there?
Vancouver is the place to be.....maybe Victoria would be a better place if we can handle the influx of tourists.

Wasnt Whistler/Blackcomb originally built as an Olympic village in the 60s, but Banff won the bid?

w00t!

I'm going.

Apparently my dad's wanted to see the Olympics for over 30 years, and he's been setting aside money to buy tickets for when it's finally in Canada. And when you save for that long, you accumulate a lot of wealth.

The whole family's going. He's looking for tickets right now. :D

Hmm... I wonder if the fact that South Korea is near an unstable North Korea had any influence on the voting. It's interesting that the vote, which was heavily on SK's side apparently shifted. Not that I mind. I kinda like that Canadia place. :)

I think China hosting the 2008 Summer games was an influence on it.

Vancouver managed to pick up Salzburg's votes after they were eliminated.
