Hmm... I wonder if the fact that South Korea is near an unstable North Korea had any influence on the voting. It's interesting that the vote, which was heavily on SK's side apparently shifted. Not that I mind. I kinda like that Canadia place. :)

I think China hosting the 2008 Summer games was an influence on it.

Vancouver managed to pick up Salzburg's votes after they were eliminated.

I was suprised that Korea got the most votes in round one :Q

Of course tha could be the bright thing for him to do. The Olympics are Very protective of the rings and the word Olympics, sue happy. Poor greek restaurants, what have have olympics in the name for years get sued by the IOC to change the name.

I would drop that name like hot potato.

Besides he forgot to get the .org

My friend is gonna LOVE this, as he owns a condo at Whistler. That's gonna be some nice coin for him...

I am still a little annoyed Beijing didn't screw up their bid. I live right beside to where much of the Toronto Olympics would have been held.

Maybe we should look at the bright side... all the younger kids here will be 21 in 2010... they'll be too drunk to remember the Olympics (or care how old and decrepit we are).
Actually the drinking age is 19 there.

Same here. Are there many US memebers on the IOC committee?

If there are then that could explain it as they were in favour of S. Korea getting the games, thus giving NY a better chance at the 2012 games.

Very False. Banff has never had any olympics of any kind. Perhaps it was built for a world cup event or perhaps in an attempt at getting the olympics. The Olympics have only been in canada 3 times, 1976 in Montreal, 1988 in Calgary and now Vancouver 2010.

Now that it'll be out west 2 twice, can the east/central Canada complain that the west gets everything :)

History of Whistler.

so good you had to say it 2 twice? ;)

I think if anyone gets nothing it's us here in Manitoba. The only cool thing we get is the Panam Games.

The problem with Manitoba is that it is both east and west. :)

Pfft. I think women would rather have hot sex in the winter over cold ice cream.

I like La Casa Gelato ... amazing amount of flavors and all ... but to be honest I don't find their product to be as good as others in the city. I used to go to La Casa all the time - especially when I would do the whole biking through Vancouver the-whole-day thing along that route (the Adanac) but once I checked out - I think it's Mum's Gelato - right around the corner of the Vineyard on 4th and it was heavenly! Much tastier than La Casa and I used to be quite the La Casa loyalist.

Anyways, if anyone is willing to do some babysitting (maybe alot!) then you are welcome to stay with me. I'm past the hot chick-can-stay-at-my-place thing fortunately (and unfortunately).

Aren't you guys forgetting someone? You two can spend the nights together since all the ladies will be at my place :)

Isn't it sort of sad that we are pretty much predicting that we will still be single in 7 years? :p

Well since Silverpig, Aquaman, and Mucman are billeting hot chicks, I feel obliged, as a fellow Vancouver ATOT'r to offer my home to any hot guy who wishes to attend the Olympics!

Mind you, at that time there will be an 8 yr. old and possibly a 6 yr. old here along with *Andre and I who will be pushing 40!!!!:Q But I'll be officially in cougar status mode so I might be up for an affair by then;)

*Andre is my hubby who is actually Shaun, but these guys think he looks like Andre Agassi!

Oh and Aquaman...I'm not a hot chick from out of town...but I'd love to go for Ice cream sometime! Maybe we could arrange a Vancouver meet there!:)
