The CS fan base has been notorious for dropping settings for maximum frame rate, so it makes perfect sense that the sequel would be based around a no frills engine designed for performance.

If you want a pretty shooter there are plenty of games already filling that market with new spin-offs for each series coming out practically every year. It's a saturated market.

This. Cs is the leader in small squad tactical combat. Why should they make it something it isn't?

What dont you understand? I do not like having to buy weapons.

Having to buy weapons and accessories and having to wait until the end of the round to respawn ruins CS for me. I like games that provide constant action.

Then don't play it?

If you want a more casual shooter, go play a more casual shooter. Or just play a custom map. Don't try to change the game...

When I play CS, its either gun games or deathmatch with instant respawn.

But I find CS boring, and rarely play.

Just look at it as acquiring a Weapon Loadout without going through the hassle of Menus.

Exactly.

So why are you in this thread? Why are you complaining? What is your goal?

Why are you trying to change CS into a boring cowadoody clone?

You don't even like CS - why bother to voice your unrelated opinion?

Exactly.

So why are you in this thread?

Just like the title of the thread says, I feel that valve has dropped the ball on CS.

My added argument is that valve has dropped the ball on all of its games expect tf2.

Why are you complaining?

I am tired of Valve only producing tf2 updates.

For people like me that like some kind of constant action, it would be nice if Valve made a CS "type" game, but with improvements.

L4D/L4D2 are great games, but just like all of the other valve games, where are the updates?

Valve has not only dropped the ball with CS, but also L4D/L4D2.

Don't be so condescending. I personally played assloads of CS in the early days, and a little CSS. For me, the hope was that Valve would create a modern and dynamic game on the theme of urban counter-terrorism. Instead they look to be just rehashing the same old boring, stuffy game I got bored of years ago, and in my opinion that's a real shame.

With the exception of HL3, I think most would disagree with you. Valve is one of the most popular companies in the PC gaming community.

I am tired of Valve only producing tf2 updates.

TF2's updates are just new weapons/hats. These kinds of updates wouldn't translate well to CS, which is more competitive. What kind of updates is CS supposed to have, that wouldn't destroy any ideas of balance?

For people like me that like some kind of constant action, it would be nice if Valve made a CS "type" game, but with improvements.

What improvements? It sounds like you just want to make it a mindless "fragfest".

L4D/L4D2 are great games, but just like all of the other valve games, where are the updates?

Didn't they add whole campaigns and game modes to L4D 1/2?

Valve has not only dropped the ball with CS, but also L4D/L4D2.

Again, I disagree.

I'm not being condescending.

What "modern" and "dynamic" elements do you want? Are these really elements that fit Counter-Strike, or do you just want another CoD clone?

New types of gameplay and different types of maps.

L4D2 has a mutation mode that rotates something like every week. So every week players can play a new modification.

You must have be keeping up with the tf2 updates? Its more then just hats.

Didn't they add whole campaigns and game modes to L4D 1/2?

Valve is in the process of porting the original maps over to l4d2, so they are not "new" per say.

How about dynamic maps that change from time to time. This feature was "supposed" to be in l4d2, but was removed.

Meaning?

and different types of maps.
CS has tons of maps. More than any FPS I can remember playing.

L4D2 has a mutation mode that rotates something like every week. So every week players can play a new modification.
And I always thought that was silly. Whats the point of playing a shallow un-thought modification every week? Servers can impose their owns modifications if they wish.

No, it is basically just maps/guns/hats that I can remember. People squeal of special Deus Ex sunglasses.

The Passing

Makes no sense for competitive play. For L4D2 it would work, but in CS it makes absolutely no sense. No random elements in competitive games, please.

Meaning? (referring to new gameplay)

How about a mix of metro2033 in with counter-strike, some kind of new settings, with NPC characters.

How about incapping people instead of killing them, like what brink and l4d/l4d2 uses?

I would like to see some kind of true teamwork requirements for CS/CS:S, where people are forced to work as a team.

How about getting rid of the 1 shot kills.

What does this even mean? Why would there be NPC characters in a competitive FPS?

How about incapping people instead of killing them, like what brink and l4d/l4d2 uses?

I guess this could happen (and revive based on if you bought a revive kit?) but what would determine the incap? And what would be the point? You should still be able to should a incapacitated person on the ground and kill them.

I would like to see some kind of true teamwork requirements for CS/CS:S, where people are forced to work as a team.

CS requires the most teamwork of any competitive FPS, so this doesn't really make sense to me.

How about getting rid of the 1 shot kills.

This would just lower the skill cap, which is a bad thing for a competitive FPS.

Because in the real world, sometimes the bad guys hide behind civilians. Kill/wound a civilian, lose points.

Is that why there are so many videos on youtube of people camping with the AWP?

~~ EDIT ~~

How about switching teams with an objective?

Give Team A an objective, at the end of the round the teams switch, and then its teams B turn to do the objective.

there are so many fps games cant cs exist as cs without tinkering with it too much? We should be happy they dont fuck with it.

I wish I had a modern rtcw that had the EXACT same game play as RTCW. But no.

That is already in CS with the hostages.

Don't just a game based on pubs.

Some servers switch teams between rounds.

CS is a classic and I actually enjoy the game play compared to FPS' today. If you like Call of Duty-like game play why not just play Call of Duty? Why does CS have to change to something it's not?

I think CS would be amazing with iron sights personally. I know people cry that Iron sights make a game easy mode, but they also need to realize that iron sights in CS would not mean no recoil like cod.

Hell, go back and play cod1/UO and be amazed at how much recoil those games have in comparison to cod2/cod4/mw2/blops. It's ridiculous, and it has actually made me a worse player. I went back and was playing UO for kicks, and I could not control the recoil the way I used to because it just seemed like so much compared to the newer iterations of cod.

That's one of the things I really don't like about CS....it's hip shooting. This is arcade - not even close to reality. I would prefer that modern FPS didn't have crosshairs at all, forcing players to actually aim their weapons, not magic floating dots in the middle of the screen - while your weapon is actually not even in your line of sight.

This isn't really a slam on CS....if the "dot aim" gun mechanic is what they like, then it's what they like. Valve might as well keep it as is and listen to their customers. After all, I don't have to play it, right? The CS community is very serious about their game, and I can respect that - so I think the developers will do well to listen to what they want, and not what people who don't inherently like the game want.

If only CryTek would have listened to what their loyal customers wanted instead of playing to a completely different crowd. :(

What the fuck is it with PC gamers these days? Every time someone can't be bothered putting together a cogent argument they just say "just play CoD lolz". I'm not going to have a discussion with an idiot like you.

The only people who have talked about CoD are the CS geeks trying to convince themselves that anyone who wants Valve to improve CS must want Valve to create CoD. Quit it with this stupid strawman argument.

Don't thread crap in here then? CS obviously caters to a different market then other shooters.
