"Starting on October 11th, the prices of weapons and equipment in Counter-Strike: Source will be updated each week based on the global market demand for each item. As more people purchase a certain weapon, the price for that weapon will rise and other weapons will become less expensive."

I really like the way Valve is going with this. I think they've noticed the extreme success of WoW, and are going to tap into this market.

Personally, I'm not much an RPG guy... I prefer action-oriented games. But if Valve develops a first-person shooter where I could explore the world of Half-Life with thousands of other people, I would buy it.

Valve is a fantastic software company and has earned my trust, thanks in large part to their continued development and support of their games.

Don't forget the AK although I think the AK and M4 are used and bought alot more than AWP

Sounds cool. At least now if my team is doing bad maybe I can at least buy a TMP/Mac instead of a crappy pistol. Now if they would make the AWP less powerful that would be nice.

This is a good idea, as it lets players buy different weapons instead and use another strategy.

Neat idea.

Maybe the lesser used sub machine guns will drop in price too so they can be used earlier in the match.

they need to make the awp at least harder to use, like making it sway or something.

I can see one potential down side to this. Obviously some guns will become very expensive. Players on losing teams won't have access to those guns for several rounds if they keep losing because they will have to save up. I think this may cause players to switch teams more often just so they can buy the guns they want, and the teams will end up being unfairly stacked more so than they can be today.

This is great for me, I've always been a proponent of using cheaper weapons (deadly with the famas, insane with the galil, furious with the TMP, etc etc etc).

Players probably lose because they don't work together? Lol, maybe. Or maybe they just suck or something. I can understand that. Well, hopefully the admins on the servers will resolve that :p!

Well it's an OK idea. But the price list they showed looks like it's not going to really deter the insane usage of the M4 and AK.

Why the hell can they not balance those overpowered weapons instead? It seems like almost any CS game I play, the majority of players have one of those rifles. Back in the beta days, I had so much fun using SMGs. Now they are almost useless up against rifles. Money is not a big issue for me when I play CS:S. I don't see how raising the price a couple hundred $ on those rifles is gonna stop people from buying them. The other rifles are ok but I miss the days where you could be competitive with weapons other than the M4 or AK. I really like using different weapons, but when I end up with a M4 or AK I usually do noticeably better. Not that something like the FAMAS or Sig Commando aren't any good, but it just seems like those two are all that is used since they are clearly superior.

Well, at least no one has called it the Colt yet.

People still are competitive with the SMG's. I play Office mostly, and CT's usually go for a deagle/tmp combo. I usually use the p228/ tmp. Sometimes I go for the p90, mp5, or pump shottie.
