Big wide open maps are great for that of course.

Bingo. FP subscribers are no closer to playing it than anyone else. It's just another scheme by GameSpy to get people to use their damned software. "Now out" should be removed from the topic title.

I think this happened with Bioshock or Quake Wars. Someone changed a digit on the URL and got the unencrypted version of the release so I guess they did the same thing. LULZ.

you can't play the FP version because its not released yet. as of last night, you could only reserve your copy of the demo. not sure if they have it available for pre-load yet.

<sigh> Doesn't run so well for me. On average I suppose I get around 25fps in heated firefights and when I'm just exploring the level with no one around it shoots up to around 40 to 60fps. The Shangri-La map (whatever its called) runs like crap most of the time. Also, when a map is loaded you see all the textures popping into place (reminds me of Gears of War which does the same thing sometimes) but that could be a driver thing. The visual settings are very barebones so I just maxed things out and away I went. The gameplay seems fine but I didn't play online yet since I"m not pleased with the performance. I'll fool around with settings later today. oh..the gameplay seems fun but I'm not a hardcore UT guy. I"m sure those guys will chime in on the gameplay changes.


I shouldn't expect too much from my almost 2 year old pc but HL2: Episode 2, Airborne, Call of Duty 4 demo..etc..all run nicely for me. Lets see how Crysis runs before I decide on an upgrade timetable.

Yeah it seems there is a playable version on all of the torrent sites, and the Fileshack one released a few hours ago is too.

The FP subscribers still can't play yet? LOL

Anyone have any mirrors? Fileshack has a 60 minute wait time, and torrent sites like Gameupdates.org have maybe a few seeds and 75 leechers, well that was a few minutes ago, probably 150 leechers now.

edit: Damn things like these are always tough to get at the start, probably unless you are a paying subscriber to get access to premium HTTP/FTP servers. Just started the torrent from Gameupdates which has 5 seeds, 100 peers, only getting 10-20 k/s. It should speed up in a few hours and be done by the time I'm able to play it which won't be for another 5+ hours.

I've kept hearing how the devs say that people will be very surprised at how well it'll run on systems that are a couple of years old, but this doesn't seem to be the case from initial comments. One person with a C2D, 3 GHz, 7900GS only runs at 20-30fps at 1280x1024, high details. Looks like 1680x1050 is definitely out of the question with my 7800GT.

edit2: Sweet, it's been over 160 k/s for a while now and up as high as 200 k/s. Really quite good considering the seed to peer ratio of less than .04 and dropping!

I'd say it will run 1680x1050 fine just don't expect to max everything out. You will likely have to deal with medium settings.
