EvilWobbles, Ping time is a product of routing. I doubt there's much you can do on your end to improve it. I'm on a 384/128 ADSL line and get consistant 150ms ping from Mutley's server. Just where his is and how many hops it takes to get there. I'm sure someone else will start a server with a better ping time.

When I had a UT server up and running in North Dakota, there were people in the UK getting better pings / less lag off me on a T1 than the Game Box in Utah on an OC-12. Wish I could have kept that server going, but as we all know, speed costs money.

Assim1, good game then! I looked at the scoreboard, i was on like 15-10 and you were like 8-6 then next thing i know you're ahead of me and then we were switching and swapping the lead! And you just got that last little double-kill!

I had my UT historys best match today!! I was uber lol. I had even one Mega kill! If you know the Citadel map I was in the flag room with four enemies alone. Killed them all! Lol man Im good! (Not). After 2h 30min gaming had 1000p. .

here is a suggestion on getting lower ping times
type in the numbers or type in advancedhelp.org.
I believe that if you type in www.advancedhelp.org the ping time will be higher cause it routes through TZO.

I get it, CKG=CADkindaGUY. And you were doing good for your first time FPS. Better than I did when I started. I just stood there with this dazed look, trying to figure out where everyone went, as they would blow by and frag me.

And you type messages by pressing the T key (talk) and typing in what you want. Just be careful during the game, as you are powerless while typing. I forgot that a few minutes ago, and was painfully made aware of that. :Q

Due to driver problems, I'll be upgrading my gaming rig to Win2K - I'm used it before and not had many problems except with really old games.. maybe I'll just have to build another rig for times when I want to play those and let it crunch SETI when I'm not using it.

Very good idea, NWM! Windows 2000 is fine for most games these days, now that the video card manufacturers have gotten up to date as far as the drivers are concerned.

Well, thanks to the continuous fragging from mechBgon and fingers....and sometimes Gimpy (Ray), I'm starting to get the hang of this. I've remapped my mouse and keyboard a tad.....and, taking fingers advice, love to jump!

Won my first match last night...even killed mech 2 times! :Q....but in all fairness, mech joined in the middle ....so if he would have been there from the start, he would have probably won!

Hi Assim,

Saw me briefly because the game keeps crashing out. MY PC continues to run OK but can't get more than a couple of minutes in the game and that is I am able to successfully join in to begin with. Most of the GPF's seem to be having a problem with my sound card which is an ordinary CMI 3738 chip very common on many Motherboards now. I may try a different sound card to see if that helps.

I think my Asus A7V 266-E has the same sound chip as you(I'll check) ,game runs fine (aside form GTS2 just barely being fast enough!)

With the GF4s they are all pretty much very similar. Just go for the cheapest one that has all the features that you want. I recommend a 128mb version, because when the textures get bigger than 64mb (which they will do very soon) the speed that the 128 versions have by not needing to go into main memory.

I got an MSI 128mb with DVI and TVOut for £125 from work, very nice card!

I've not had a chance to benchmark it yet, but I just put in my old Radeon SDR PCI card, and it seems to run a good deal better at UT2003 than my other AGP Radeon VE card did. Any idea why? Perhaps it's because the Radeon SDR PCI has T&L, while the Radeon VE doesn't.
