OK just seen mech (again) and Assim1 in there 🙂

Mech as usual kicking some serious ass, i came second in that last full round i played 🙂

OK, I'm pretty green at this game too. How do you tell the difference between a bot and a real player. It was obvious like when I saw MechBgon, Engineer etc but what about names I don't know like I saw Prism and Natron for example. Is there a list of the Bot names or something?
 
Maybe I am the only one that remembers how mech plays. He's damn good. He spent a LOT of time playing UT before. It was almost an addiction. Oh wait, I bet he's addicted again. 😛

Glad to hear some of you are having a lot of fun playing. When and if my finatial status gets better I hope to build a new machine so I can at least enjoy some of the new games out there.

I remembered how mech plays, and he happened to be my first and only frag in the first game I connected to. 😀

Now if I could keep the thing from crashing after 4 minutes.. grrr.. :disgust:

I remember a time when I could actually keep up with Mech. 😀 It was, oh, probably about the first week or so, then he got serious and was WAY out of my league. 😛

But the worst butt fragging I ever had was at the hands, er rather rockets of Lord_Demios. I earned the most deaths in a single game with rockets stat in that game. :Q And that stat stood for a long, long time. 😱

Too bad I don't see him around these parts much anymore. 🙁
 
Dave: you can usually tell the bots by their incredible prescience. They must eat a lot of carrots, because they ALWAYS spot you first 😀 They're also the ones with zero ping when you press the F1 key to check who's got what ping. It's also a safe bet that if an opponent crouches to fire, it's a bot.

Wolfie: I can stop any time I feel like! 😛 😉 And I am not that good at actual fighting... even with shields and good health points I often lose in up-close fights (just ask ys).


edit: we should have someone host a no-bots server, and play Follow The Leader with the Translocator. The Translocator is your friend! :Q
 
Okay, I give up. :|

I've updated every driver for every device to the recommendeds for each and made sure the OS is patched current. I've even used "PowerStrip" to under-clock the video card to its lowest settings and the game still GPFs. This is the only game I've got that's crashing. :disgust:

Oh well.. like my parents always said: You get what you pay for.

Had a varied game last night against mechBgon, the variety being in all the different ways he killed me.......

I'll be back...

Strange thing though, I could see things like "Bingo was shredded by mechBgon" and stuff like that, but when he typed stuff to me, he came up as player1....

Thanks on the Info Mech. Yes there were a lot of the 0 ping bots then.

I like the idea of no bots, then it is as real as it gets for Virtual. Hmmm sounds like a Yogi Berra kind of thing.

I was in for a few games last night as Gimpy at one point there were 3 players named player 😀

The last game EvilWobbles and I tied for the # of frags and # of deaths, so I thought I was doing pretty good 😀, until I saw that I had a ping of 192 and Evil had a ping of 800. :Q

And Tetsuoe(sp) kicked all our butts. :Q

I had turned down the all of the eyecandy, so it was much better, there was only once I got hung up and started repeating the same set of frames, then I got thrown way back to where I had been, but after that it seemed to smooth out some.

 
Anyway I provided some good cannon fodder last night to some people... Played "Instant action" for awhile and thought I was an expert, then jumped on the server and got my @$$ kicked.

Cranked up my FSB to 145 and played fine for like an hour... then closed the game, started up my SETI again and the thing hung after 30 min.. go figure.

Man my ping sux (300-400)... where's your server muttley? I'm in Chicago

Edit -- BTW thanks a ton muttley for hosting the server... will be back tonite !

No, I started using Gimpy way back when the UnrealTournement Demo came out and we started playing it online. I felt that it reflected my dodging and strafeing capabilities. Now more than ever.....😱

Well, I'm hooked! :Q...but I'm still very green since I have NEVER played UT....as a matter of fact, the last game even close was the original Quake! 😛

I did get to actually put mechBgon on the ground once or twice last night...so the kill ratio is about 10 to 1 (mech to me) now! 😀

Several people there just tore me a new one though...I just don't know all the weapons yet...and move either....and I'm trying to feel my way around. I guess just blast the H@ll out of everything and keep on going! 😀:Q😛

This is gonna sound repetitive but MechB kicked my arse too!😛 ,I did kill him about 3 times I think 😉
Confused I did a little better with but not much!

On top of getting my butt kicked I thought my mouse was going to die as the low battery light was on,it lasted out though🙂
And the sooner I learn the weapons all over again the better!.

I'm going have another game in a bit ,say about 1/2hr

I noticed that my ping was really high at times last night.

Is there anything I can do to lower that? Most of my UT play has been at LAN parties where ping rate isn't an issue.

My Internet connection is a 768/128K DSL line. I'm willing to do some tweaking if that will help!
 
I tell ya, this reminds me so much of when the UnrealTournament demo came out, and we setup a Team Anandtech server. Oh man, the fun we had. We used to pop on to the #anandtech on IIRC, see who was on, see who was up for a game, go frag each other for awhile, then pop back into IRC to boast and brag. 😀

Btw I've just done the benchmark @ 1024x768 ,I get

53.1 FPS Flyby
32.8 FPS Botmatch

That's with my XP1500 @ 1578MHz & my GTS2 32Mb o/ced to 230/385 (from 200/333)
Seems my GTS2 is only just cutting it!:Q

Anyway ,time for gaming😉
