CC doesn't make you slow down going up a hill? That whole point of CC is to maintain a set speed. If you slow down more than 1-2 MPH, the CC will downshift and speed you up back to the speed you were going. Maybe you've been using crappy CC systems that can't do that but that's how all my cars have been.

I use my CC even if I'm just in a 25MPH zone. It saves gas mileage, I don't have to concentrate on the speed I'm going, so it's also a safety device. Only time not to use it is in heavy traffic or when there's lots of stop signs/lights in an area.

They let you drive?!?! Man there really should be intelligence tests to get a license. THERE IS A REASON IT IS A 25MPH ZONE. It is an area with traffic, they want you to pay attention, not to "not concentrate" You completely defeat the purpose, no it is not a safety device, it is a friggin comfort device for long trips, in town driving use the gas and break pedals, and stop being a danger to those around you.

Sorry, wrong again.

25MPH has nothing to do with the traffic. It's usualy because it's a residential area or a side street. Neither of which has anythign to do with heavy traffic. And did I say No Concentrate? No. I said Not concentrate on my speed. I set the CC at 25 and I know I'm going to be going 25. That means I don't have to keep looking down at the spedometer to check my speed. This means I can spend more time looking for other cars, kids, pets, toys, etc. So, YEAH it's a safety device because other people and myself are safer because I can spend more time making sure no accidents happen.

He isn't lazy... Cops love to sit in 25mph zones... so I am CONSTANTLY looking at my speedometer.... When you look at it every other second, it is a huge distraction. It is much better to be set on 25mph (actually 30), and to pay attention all the time.

Gotta go with the utility of the cruise control. If the conditions are right, it rocks. Admittedly it doesn't apply to most everyday driving (some exceptions such as RossGr), but its still very nice. I bought a 1990 Camry in 1999 for $5k that had cruise control, so it been around for a while and its pretty common. None of the cars that were mentioned as not having cruise control seem very common to me, or they seem to be for a very specialized purpose (i.e. $100,000+ sports cars, or wierd toyota cars like the HEV Prius)

Cruise control on the strip would be great right? Just set to 300mph and go.

I have CC on both of my cars and it rarely gets used. Unless I am on a long trip with no traffic I don't like it. I like to be in control and can use my brakes less if I control everything with my accelerator.

I have never had a chance to use cruise control. I would like to use it once before I die. That is all.

if you're using cruise control in situations where you're getting that close to other drivers, do us all a favor and get the fvck off the road. your feet need to be on the pedals so that you can react adequately.

worst offender ever: a friend of mine recently told me she drives sitting in the seat cross legged with the cruise control on. it probably takes her 5 minutes to hit the brakes.

1. If you had any real driving skill or experience, you don't need your speedometer to know how fast you're going....

I am the person that sits in the left lane, passing everyone else. I hate it when someone pops out in the left lane and slows way the fsck down, then I go to pass them and they speed back up. I almost always have my cruise set on the highway (between 75-80). If someone comes up behind me, I get over.

Ahhhh, you're the guy who is the fastest driver on the road, with few exceptions..... I'm going to pull out in front of you, slow you down, piss you off, and let you slam on the gas to pass me... right before where the trooper usually sits.. Since your profile shows you as being an Ohio resident... I'd like to make you aware that the speed limit in Ohio is 65... You're going 10 to 15 mph over the speed limit... slow tf down... that's my family in the car with me. I don't need them endangered by some dolt who thinks his time is more valuable than mine. Doing a lot of travelling, I've noticed that typically the left lane is 8 or 9 miles over the speed limit... the right lane just a little over the limit.... Quit your whining.

Agreed, I can tell by the sound of my engine what speed I'm going (I drive a 5-speed - I know what gear I'm in all of the time because my hand is always on the shifter, I can tell by the position of my hand). If you can't keep your foot still to keep yourself at a steady speed, maybe your shouldn't be on the road driving. It's not hard to keep yourself at a constant speed, most people who can't are kids and women ;)
