There is this awesome invention, that allows you to maintain the same speed for lengths of time. You can also slow down or speed up at the touch of a button.

Apparently, nobody in the entire Earth has heard of this invention.

The only people who don't HAVE to use it, are the people in the complete left lane of the highway. Everyone else should use their freakin cruise control.

THere is nothing that pisses me off more than cruising along at a set speed, then someone cuts out in front of me and slows down.... then when I pass at my maintained speed, they speed up..... STAY AT THE SAME SPEED! (#@$(@#*$^!@(!!!!

A lot of cars don't have cruise control. None of the 4 cars I've had have ever had it.

My 2002 car doesn't. It was an option, but I never used it on my previous car since cruise control rarely works on the hilly roads around my area. And given that I'm always adjusting my speed to match traffic anyways, what's the point?

Gee... I'm glad that you're so well off that you can afford a car with CC, pw, pl, p seating, tilt steering and the works. You deserve a fscking cookie! Some of us are not so fortunate. So until then I'll just keep using my poor man's cruise by wedging my left foot behind my right one!

In fact it's the people with the cruise that p!ss me off. You're probably that punk in the left lane who sets his cruise about .05 MPH faster than the guy you're trying to pass and therefore it takes you about 10 miles to complete your pass because you're too lazy to put your foot on the damn gas.

This rant is teh suck...
Get over it.

I've got another wonderful invention for you. It's called adaptive cruise control. It keeps you at a safe distance even if speed varies.

Therefore, you should buy a car that incorporates this fine invention.

we are working on components for an adaptive cruise control. It maintains a distance behind another vehicle, not just speed. :)

Definitely.

Your mistake, edro, is in making this rant dependent upon technology that isn't available to everyone - if this were a simple "Maintain Your Speed" rant, you would be fine, though it would likely be a repost, and you would be dragged over the coals for that too.

I use cruise, and I have to agree. When I'm on cruise and I'm approaching someone at .5 mph faster than they are, I accelerate to pass them quickly before letting the cruise take me back to the slow speed. I hate it when others are not as curtious. Hell, some people never bother to look in their rearview mirrors.

About this guy's rant. I don't see what the problem is... it's not like they are blocking your way. If they are not slowing you down what's the big freakin' deal?

Cruise control only seems useful to me when you're in the middle of nowhere and there are few cars around you. Otherwise, there are way too many variations in speed needed for it to be helpful.

Make sure it incorporates a minimum distance. I'd hate for some road rager in his vehicle to be able to set it to 1 foot behind my bumper.

?? It's already available on cars from Lexus, Mercedes, Infiniti, and Cadillac (maybe others, I don't know) and I am sure it will trickle down to non-luxury brands in the near future.

It's VERY useful in my driving, I'd most defininitley get a ticket due to speeding if I didn't leave the cruise control on. I'm just in too much of a hurry :)
