Ronnie Raygun was an actor for California. He'd be way too "libural" to be a GOP leader today. IIRC he raised taxes in his first term and authorized the last "amnesty" for undocumented immigrants.
LOL no he wouldn't. He just didn't say the shit out loud like Trump. Reagan was just as corrupt as Trump. I can't believe people wanna forget what he did in Nicaragua or how he sold weapons to Iran to fund the murderous Contras. And I have some beach front property in El Paso to sell you if you don't think Trump loves illegals. He's gonna be a pig in shit playing the victim card when none of the shit he promised with illegals happens just like he did with the wall that he never gave a shit about and just used as a campaign slogan.

You're misunderstanding my point. I'm not disputing Reagan's conservative bona fides, or his level of corruption.

I'm saying there is no realistic path to POTUS for a California governor, be it a Republican (haha!) or a Democrat. I don't know why people keep bringing up Gavin Newsom. Aside from his family's movie star looks, the former mayor of SF is not gonna sniff the presidency.

Ronald Reagan was a piece of shit and corrupt, but Trump is on an absolutely different fundamental level. I mean to me this is plain as day.

Ronnie would not invite Russian dignitaries to his inauguration, for example. I mean no president has done so, but Reagan would have simply not done it.

Trump invited Xi Jinping, who sent his VP over.

Shrub was and is an awww shucks Texan; it's not where he went to school that matters. I don't know where Reagan was born, nor do I care. He was a Hollywood actor, and assuming he was transported 40 years into the future and much of his biography stayed the same, he's not ascending to the top of today's GOP. The most prominent GOP politician from California in this century is fmr. Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and he was forced out of office by predator Matt Gaetz.

Trump is indeed from NYC, but he's a very special case. He's really a cult leader, and his cult of celebrity was really amplified by Hollywood. I realize that sounds a bit contradictory but Trump's playbook isn't one you can easily replicate. By appealing to white nationalism, he did a hostile takeover of the GOP; he didn't ascend up its ranks organically.

I'm from California, but much of the country envisions us as some leftist dystopia. Weird considering we're nominally the 5th largest economy in the world, but my point is California politicians aren't well positioned to win the nomination for presidency. IMO that would also apply to Reagan in today's environment even though he's lionized as the last great GOP president.

That was marketing. He was and is an east coast elite.

All hat, no cattle.
And when it comes to the American electorate and elections, it's the perception that matters. Not what you claim the real truth to be.

Look no further than Donald J. Trump, the ultimate charlatan. Bamboozled just enough voters not once, but twice. Somehow convinced the common man that he will look out for them. 🤣 🤣

I’ll just leave this here, it was always BS from a party of BSer’s

If it found bias in favor of Democrats every dipshit conservative would be in here screeching about it already. They will never acknowledge this reality though, if they ever manage to even hear about it.
