Now you have been promoted to BESTBUY'S ULTIMATE SUCK ON THIS congrats.
Warning ATers : Do not get more than 3 sticks / store yourslef I couldn't get the other 5 sticks they let me speak to corporate and I was told more than 3 is commercial use and I can't get them so I said no problem today my friend is going with me and he will get three for himself and the next will do the same cheers !!!

The Linuxator, Do you have a case# on that 3 stick limit?

I just got my lappy (256mb) delivered so its off to BB tomorrow. I might have to take my unemployed brother-in-law with me to get enough!

The problem was that I already had two and offcourse they come with installation and since I am not obviously bringing any laptop for installation and logically there is NO way in hell I am going to let a D!CK SQUASH PROSUCKTIONAL be 50 ft close to my $ 1000 IBM THINKPAD, so I have to get friends and let them benefit and everyone benefits, and I still get the chance to enjoy bestbuy's suffering MWAAHAHAHAHA.

And sorry I wasn't provided with a case number so you are going to have to use the one in the OP , but you should be % 100 ok since you are going to use your laptop so they can install them in it. and logically not going to get more than 2 for both slots so I think you are ok .

you know what, this might be a stupid question, but do you guys call 888-Best-buy and inquire about this coupon, or call coporate bb?

corporate bb seems like a long wait.

Well, I live in midlothian VA and the local BB is all out of 512 lappy DDR's. I was not aware there were so many AT readers, although, I know this is a pretty active topic in other forums...

No problems for me in Albany, NY, Picked up the Kingston 512Mb DDR ($55, Desktop, not Laptop) + Geek Install ($29), Laptop Bag ($55), Linksys WRT54G ($69 +$20 in Rebates) and a 8 port switch ($52) (Not related to the coupon). Went to the regular cashier, rang everything then sent me to the Service Center after they figured out they couldn't add the Geek Install😀 She brought the order up, then consulted a "Geek" to get the Sku for that, coupon pulled everything off, onto the CC and out the door😀

Total Damage Before the coupon : $282 (Rough Total)
After Coupon : $160 + Another $20 in Rebates on the router

Not bad for 15 minutes of my time😀

Thanks all for the info,

WTT

I think I have gotten the best outcome yet!!! I went into my local best buy today prepred with case# to fight for my FLASH MEMRY (SD card) with manager who turned me down yesterday, only to find a different manager...

She happened to be VERY nice, but not a very good reader. Upon giving her the coupon and explaing that I would need to get $90 of my memory plus the Installaion which she would need to over-ride b/c it is flash memory, she just took $90 of my SD card with no installation charge at all!!!!!! So...

I got a 512mb Sandisk Ultra II SD Card
A Dynex Camera Lens Cleaning Kit
&
A Kit-Kat for...................................

$1.93 🙂 🙂 🙂

I don;t care about stupid ass#@$oles like you who don;t help their selves and ask other people for their hard work. No body give a %#$$#$ about you if you did not get any and why the hell i give you or any body else give you their memories for free.
what are you like 3? Sorry that you dont realize your extreme selfishness....give their free memories for free? And their hard work...walk into Best Buy and walk out, normally if it wasnt that easy, you didnt get the RAM? Oh and....I said I would pay for them, but knowing the jerk@sshole you are, you'd "sell" them for $200 a stick.

What to say when they told you it's for new computers only?

Ask: Where does it say that on the coupon I have right here, right now? I got the link from a friend, and I saw no such restrictions. And here's the link so you can see the pdf file for yourself. And if thats true, why hasn't BB modified the pdf file on thier website to reflect that when they've known about it for a while now and have had plenty of time to fix it if that was the case.

Luckily I'm leaving Friday, or I would have left today after that bullsh!t. Its not FRAUD, its their own fvcking fault. They tried to tell me that the e-mail they got said it was altered on some "slickdeals" website, well I kindly informed them it was from a BBY site and that I wanted a copy of that e-mail they got. I got the copy of the e-mail and they all know that it was a coupon from the website that was missing the "must purchase with computer" disclaimer in the e-mail, those jackasses tried to lie to me.
|

So you have a copy of an email from best buy corporate acknowledging that the coupon from the website is missing the the "must purchase computer" fine print?
I don't remember the fine print, but yes something like that

so let me get this right, i can buy any kind of memory and have them "install" it and i only pay for whats above $60? im wondering if this will work for getting sd cards, etc for my phone and computer

pay for whats above $90... but most likely they'll FORCE the install fee on ya, so it'll be at least $30

Just got back from BestBuy where they were all out of Kingston Technology 512MB PC2700 DDR Desktop Memory, but they still had a handful of Kingston Technology 512MB PC2700 DDR SoDIMM Notebook Memory at the Geek stand.

I asked for two and went to check out using the coupon. Thus, starts my hour and a half ordeal. In the end I was able to leave with only ONE FREE 512MB PC2700 DDR SoDIMM added to my v2000z notebook. At first they just said ?We don?t have to honor this.? After some back and forth I finally said to the Geek ?I don?t accept YOUR NO as an answer. Call 1800BESTBUY?. Finally they made the Geeks take the coupon, but the local store manager limited it to one per person. Still one free is better than none, and I had time to go to Costco/PriceClub where I found a cool FM modulator for $14.99 that lets you play MP3s through your car stereo system off of a thumb drive by plugging in to a cigarette lighter!

AFter initially rejecting the coupon as a "hoax" and some "photoshoped coupon" my buddy was persistent and finally got an answer back from corporate:

"Thank you for contacting Best Buy about coupon promotions. I'm Paula with
Customer Care.

We apologize for any confusion when the Kokomo store had denied your use of a
coupon for $90 off the purchase of memory and installation. Our Corporate Office
has determined that this coupon is legitimate and the Kokomo store should accept
it. This information was communicated to all stores. I apologize that I am not
able to provide you with the 1GB memory you had originally wanted when you went
to the store. As you are a valued Best Buy customer, I would like to provide you
with a $100 gift card. You should receive this gift card within the next two to
four weeks. Please provide me with your mailing address.

Thank you for sharing your comments with Best Buy. Please don't hesitate to
contact us with additional questions or concerns.

Best wishes from Best Buy,
Paula and the Customer Care Team"

1) I called 888bestbuy, first time they told me the coupon is valid.
2) went to store and geek's manager, said coupon is fine, but missing info on back that says it does not apply to sale items.
3) I called again, then they told me coupon is doctered. It does require a laptop purchase. He offered me $40 gift certificate for the miss-information from the first call.
4) I called third time, the guy said yes the coupon is doctered, but we have no choice but to honor it since it is out there. Since it is not written on the coupon, it is valid on sale items. He said if the store has a problem with this, have them call up 888bestbuy, and they'll take care of it.

Well...in actuality...the coupon never mentions a laptop/desktop sale. Apparently that was "implied". However, it does remark that the RAM can not be advertised...but this past week, people have been saying the register still rings up and takes off sale RAM.

yes that's correct. The guy rang up mine on the first try, and it came up zero. But the stupid geek manager came in and rejected the sale. Saying it's not valid on sale items. But i'm going to go back today as per my instructions from the 3rd call i placed. I even got a case number to go with it. hopefully that helps.
