As long as it isn't as easy as the last four....

Yeah, I'd like to see a little more competition from the rest of the field. I think Max is a worthy successor and I'd like to see him win a WDC or two. I like Charles LeClerc too. Carlos Sainz has also impressed me as has Lando Norris but he is still a bit too inconsistent.

It likely will be. I'd be surprised if the 2021 Honda engine is significantly better, and Ferrari has already stated that they don't expect to be better till 2022 (though I hope they get their areo down better).
Amazing 7th title for Hamilton. He and Merc are just so far ahead of the rest.

Hamilton's 95th F1 career win! :beercheers:

I've got a lot of respect for the strides the FIA has done in terms of safety, after ~10 second in a burning car on the first lap, Grosjean climbs out unscathed! :openmouth:

P2. Verstappen
P3. Albon

Man, if that engine failure made someone at Red Bull or elsewhere value Albon over Perez, then this will have been one of the heartbreaks of the season, along with Russel's crash under the safety car...

I think it was more like 20 seconds and he had minor burns to his hands and feet but yeah, he's lucky to be alive both because of the impact with the armco barrier and the fire. The halo definitely saved his life from the initial impact.

I didn't see the end of the race as the extra time I put on F1 recordings wasn't enough. The crash was horrific; watching Grosjean climb out of the burning wreckage created an image I won't likely forget. The merit of the halo should now silence all protests. Off to YouTube to see how long of a clip I can find for the end of the race.

Came here to post the same thing. I hope he doesn’t get sick.
Sakhir will likely to be Valteri's race to lose.

Man, I'd love to see George Russell in Hamilton's car for this weekend.
Your wish (and mine) was granted. Let's see if Mr. Saturday can maintain his record in a different car against a Tier 2 talent (as opposed to Tier 3 talents at Williams...)

Huh, this should be very interesting. Kudos on landing that drive!

And George Russell was fastest in FP1 and FP2 today in the Mercedes.

Russell was impressive considering he barely fits in Hamilton's car I must say! I can't wait for qualifying later this morning to see what lap he can cleanly string together.

Oh boy, poor Max Verstappen, he knew at the start he had the fastest car, and didn't need to take any risks in the first lap - then he gets killed by a Kamikaze Ferrari.

Also, Hamilton must have some kind of bad luck protection shield. The one time Merc _really_ mess up (this was epic, even compared to Hockenheim last year), he's chilling in a hotel room, watching the race on TV.

Oh, and anyone in with me, to crowd fund a team for tall drivers? We only need around 150 Million dollars, and I want to offer contracts to George Russell and Nico Hülkenberg. Only drivers 6ft. or above allowed!

I was gutted for George Russell. I was so hoping he would win that race.

What are the chances Hamilton will be back racing this weekend for the season finale?

Also, how does Perez not have a drive next year? He should replace Albon at Red Bull.

imagine how much faster george would be if he wasn't blocking the airbox

really hope hamilton has to be held out of this next race too.

this weekend was about the worst thing that could happen to albon's chances of staying with the top team. iirc kyvat isn't under contract for next season so i assume albon will be back at alpha tauri where maybe he can develop a bit more (particularly as i think the pink arrows situation has given red bull cover to allow toro rosso to use high resolution cameras to copy the senior team's car, which might be parked in a CAD scanning box in minardi's factory).

Damn, couldn't find this thread...

Fun race to watch, if a bit frustrating in some areas. Red Bull should pick up Perez, end of story. IMO. And Mercedes, WTFBBQ? Does Lewis actually hold this team together? Double stacking with a NEW driver was awfully risky in and of itself. Then, uh, the radio was effed up an the Merc crews were running around like headless chickens. What the hell.

Anyway, hope this business with RB taking over the Honda engine programme works out. I'd like to keep another engine in the mix - and RB would become a real works team.

Verstappen wins the Abu Dhabi GP.

P2. Bottas
P3. Hamilton

Most boring race of the season I must say, even the commentators were bored! The best bit was the Mercedes donuts after the race w/ the cars lined up facing each other.

Hamilton may have only taken third place today, but his F1 accomplishments are being celebrated in the UK:

Silverstone renames pit straight in honour of seven-time champion Hamilton. :beercheers:
