They were all excited in the store, so I looked at one, first app I ran was Speedtest.net, the CSR laughed...

The ping times kill the EVO, the Thunderbolt is seriously fast, am tethering with it now.

wow. Those speedtests can't be right. Is it? This just became the best Android phone. Insane download and especially upload speeds. I'm super impressed. Now I want this phone.

I got similar results running the test on speakeasy.net in the browser. IDK if there is something else going on.

How is your phone testing on Speedtest.net? Would like to see if others are getting the same thing.

speeds sound sweet. too bad i wont see 4g till something like 2020

Seems like Verizon is rolling out 4G even to the burbs which is a good sign. I was shocked to see coverage 40 miles from Atlanta.

Just a heads up guys, Amazon Wireless is selling it for 179.99 with contract.

http://wireless.amazon.com/dp/B004M5HB6U

Just remember, buying through Wirefly or Amazon gives you a contract term with both WF/Amz and Verizon. With penalties from both if you break it.

did a quick search but i can't see anything on amazon's term saying you have contract with them. all they say is if you cancel return the phone and cancel with the carrier youself, doesnt mention any fee at all.

Meh, wasn't sure if it was a fee, but they do have extra terms. Something to be aware of.

Y'all are going to be crying in a few months if you expect this sort of open-highway speed through the phone's life... ;)

(Awesome until then, though.)

wow... I could (theoretically)... buy a thunderbolt... connect to detroit area LTE... get decent ping... and have better upload/download with tethering... than i do with my current $30 a month plan...

honestly amazing (to bad i dont think LTE is availabe)

Battery life is pretty bad, looks like 3-4 hours :)

Oh well, my EVO isn't worth a damn without a larger battery, this thing is too fast for me to care.

Yeah, the battery life is definitely not good. I'm at 60% after being unplugged for 2hr41min with what I would consider light to moderate use...just installed a few apps and sent a handful of texts earlier. Apparently 82% is being used by the display, which seems high but w/e. Next highest is cell standby at 4%.

man if those numbers are right for the speed it means that 4g is 3-4 times faster then the max download speed i can get with real internet and 20-40 times faster on the upload

:(

It is extremely fast. One of my coworkers just bought one yesterday and while playing around with it I was amazed how fast web browsing was. Definitely puts my 3G phone to shame.
