I've been in this situation before and I can tell you

1. Don't worry about your current employer hassling your new employer, it will only show your new employer how important you were and how desperate your old company is (a good thing)

2. If your current employer keeps pressuring you, offer to leave immediately. If they don't back off, get up gather your stuff and walk the fvck out! And relax for a week or so before starting your new job.

3. Once you arrive at your new company DO NOT take calls from your old company, and don't take calls at home either. This will force your old company to deal with the situation, keep you from going crazy, and show your new employer that your priorities are properly place on you new position.

4. Very, Very bad idea to agree to any type consulting arrangement with your old company once you leave. I know the extra money is tempting, but there is nothing good that can come from this. Believe me on this one (been there, done it), it will put your focus in the wrong place and potentially get you off on a bad footing with the new employer.

I realize some of my advice sounds harse, but it really is the only way. You have to focus all your energy and efforts towards your new position at this point. And regardless of the sense of loyalty you have for your current employers, it's time to cut the apron strings. Their actions regarding your resignation shows their true colors, they don't give a shite about you or your future well being only their own problems which appear to be self inflicted.

This is the exact reason why you shouldn't have even considered accepting a counteroffer from this joker. Good decision, Jason.

Spoke to HR this morning about my personal time. While the payout of my vacation time is standard/mandatory, I have 60 hours of personal time which is discretionary. The last guy who quit got screwed out of this time because he pissed off my boss (honestly, the guy was asking for it, but still...).

Basically, my boss isn't above using that as leverage. I was all ready to come in here guns blazing this morning, but between me finding out about this "discretionary time" and the fact that he's actually being somewhat civil, my plans have been borked.

Remember this: If they decided to get rid of YOU, you would have zero notice. You don't owe them anything at this point.

Well, things appear to have fizzled out finally. I just got off a conference call with my boss and a prospective replacement, and the replacement asked if he'd have access to me when he arrives Monday, March 12th. I said I would on be on staff at that point, but depending on my [Boss]'s (who was sitting right next to me) decisions in the coming days, he would probably have access to me after hours and on weekends.

After we got off the call, my boss asked one final time if it looked like the 9th was still my last day. I said, "yep...". He looked like he had already accepted it (he may have gotten a blow job this weekend, because he hasn't been his usual pissy self this morning) but was giving it one last shot, but then we moved on.

So I have every indication at this point that the drama is over. My personal time is in tact and should be paid out, and the powers that be have finally decided that it's time to focus on the future rather than dwell on the past.

You guys want to hear the ultimate?

The president's WIFE is the office manager at my placement firm.

What are the odds... I just found this out about an hour ago when I went in to fill out paperwork.

Glad I LIED THROUGH MY TEETH when the president asked me if I used a recruiter... that could have killed it right there.

Wow man. Good Luck at your new job. The last one seemed like a nightmare. I think I remember your posts a while back complaining about your job? You work IT?
