To think that he owes Houston something is ridiculous.

But he was there for a couple of months! Just think about it!!!! Waaaahhh, wahhhhh, beltran = whore! wahhhhhh!

You guys aren't understanding something. Beltran himself said it was not about the money. You think Houston fans don't have a reason to be upset when he does the opposite of what he says? It's become clear that he never intended to sign with Houston choosing instead to use us to get more money from the Yankees or Mets. All this time he strung along the Astros hoping for more money. Even now they spread lies that the deal broke down because of a no trade clause. Do you honestly think the Astros would allow a big deal like this to not happen because of a no trade clause? Even freaking Jeff Kent got a no trade clause when he signed here. And really what is the difference between 7/105 without state tax and 7/119 with NY state tax? Not freaking much. The truth is he never intended to play here and decided to ruin a franchise for the next couple seasons to get a few more million for his agent. That is what is so upsetting.

Then maybe the Astros should have given him the best deal. And if the no trade clause was not a big deal, then the Astros should have also given it.

I really doubt that Beltran decided to go to NY just to please his agent. But hey, you can believe that if you want. Even you seem to be saying that the money is about the same to him.

well according to yankee insiders it wasnt all about the money as he would have gone there for less
Early Saturday evening, agent Scott Boras reached out to Yankee officials and said his client preferred their team and would accept a contract for $16.6 million a season over six years, a total of $99.6 million, according to sources familiar with the negotiations. The Yanks, as they had throughout this process, told Boras their payroll simply could not afford another expensive, long-term deal. The Yanks noted that under the current collective bargaining agreement, they would pay approximately $40 million extra in taxes on top of Beltran's contract, and the organization simply did not want to do that, even if given a chance to pay roughly $19 million less than the Mets for Beltran. The Yankees, in fact, never made an offer.

Ruin a franchise?! How so? By not going there? The guy is entitled to make any decision he wants. He can go play wherever he wants, he owes Houston NOTHING.

Beltran, the whore, is of anything but decent character. He's another prima donna that's trying to milk the game for all it's worth. Screw him.
LOL, let's be realistic here. Beltran wasn't a bonafide stud until his recent performance. If you were a 21 year old coming out of college, would you take the best job offer (since you've just become highly touted now) or would you go back for that internship that was "just fine" ? Of course he's going to appear greedy. And of course his agent is working for him. Beltran can nitpick about his teams after his prime. This is "the game". I don't know why you appear surprised at this, despite what a player or his agent "says".

yeah he's overpaid, but its pretty obvious the potential is there. Reminds me of Andruw Jones, with a lot more media coverage.
He actually reminds me of a young Barry Bonds (pre Juiced Era), who can steal bases, hit for around .290 - .300 avg, and hit for power. Did I also mention that he plays better D than young Bonds ever did?

Def overpaid but could be worth his weight in gold if he lives up to his potential...
