Paypal is pretty convenient if you use common sense. Anything over $100 that I sell on ebay is Money order/Bidpay only.

UPDATE

Took a little detective work, but the notebook sold to a car salesman in Indiana (he was using a different name on eBay?), and he resold it to someone in NY. Had to do a reverse lookup on the name on the CC used with PayPal & found out who it really was.

I just got off the phone with his boss & his mom, if he doesn't make good on the deal, I now have his address, phone #, place of work etc...

Seems his purchaser says they didn't recieve the item, so the eBay buyer decided to reverse the charges to me.

The guy's boss is going to have a little talk with him about contract law

If he doesn't make good, my local PD will have his local PD talk to him

PayPal & eBay are pretty worthless for disputes

Time to go back to the old way of editing messages...

great detective work! you're lucky to even find that much info out about the guy. hopefully this is resolved soon. :)

wouldn't do that. As I said YOU WILL BE PAID! Whether I do or not, I will be
sure you do. When I won your item I bought another laptop and I didn't want to
leave you hanging so I resold it so I could get you paid. I'm not trying to take
the money back, I was told by my attorney to open the file so that paypal would
be able to prove you sent it to that address so we both get paid. When they open
the complaints they will see you shipped it and it did arrive. I want you to
send them the info you have proving you shipped it. I already contacted them by
phone and email with the tracking info. I told them exactly what is going on so
they know you shipped it. they will cancel the complaint in a few day I was told
so please be patient. I will even send you some extra $$ for your trouble. I
appreciate your help in this matter. Look at it like this, if we don't stop the
guy, he might do it to you next time and he would stiff you. And please do me a
favor, don't threaten me anymore, I'm with you not against you. I swear on my
life You will be reimbersed and some, just please be patient and help me out,
send them the info to prove you shipped it. If you can email me copies. that
might make it go faster.
thanks.
Let me know if you have any ideas."

This guy could give Rossman lessons:|

Well, maybe everybody will get lucky and it really was just a big misunderstanding.

He, he...

Problem resolved, he's going to eat the loss...

Told him his days on eBay were numbered if he didn't pay me, actually they still are, he'll be banned, just need to fill out the form...

I also made PP me the difference between his auction & mine:D

Fortunately, I haven't had any problems...

Update #2

Seems my buyer wasn't very honest in his auction & didn't mention that the notebook was a replacement & that Compaq had already registered the serial # in my name, the 2nd buyer tried to register it & Compaq told them it appeared to have been stolen, the 2nd buyer reversed the PayPal charge, & my buyer tried to scam me.

He he he he he...

My buyer reversed his reversal, so I'm just out the time & effort of starting a new bank account.

My auction

His auction

I contacted the 2nd purchaser & told them I'd help them, if they reported the orig buyer to eBay for violating the TOS by having multiple accounts & fraudulently representing his merchandise... I also suggested they not pay him, @ least for now...
