That stinks, did you sell the notebook through ebay?? there is no recourse for that?? sucks.
Yep, I think all I can get is the listing fee back,
I did file a Square Trade complaint, the contact info through Ebay is to a Ford dealership in Indiana who's never heard of the guy, shipped the item to Queens NY![]()
How would that be 'quite clear' since "unverified" and "unconfirmed" are two different legally significant terms in the PayPal TOS? There is no such thing as an "unverified" address, only accounts are "verified". There is no such thing as an "unconfirmed" account, only addresses are "confirmed".You are playing word games. Quite simply, no, because there are rules with all merchant services, and if you don't follow the rules, you'll screw yourself just as hard with one than the other.Man that really sucks...I didn't realize you could get screwed so bad by PayPal. Are there better ways to accept credit card payments?
There's other companies that do it (c2it I think? It's a citibank serivce IIRC), but everyone uses paypal.Originally posted by: Wolverine27
You have this guy's shipping address right? Go find that bastard and kick his arse!?!

PayPal is fine if you are willing to read and learn what is expected of you as a buyer or seller to protect yourself from this kind of thing. There's other companies that do it (c2it I think? It's a citibank serivce IIRC), but everyone uses paypal.
If you're careful with paypal I guess you're ok. If I'm selling something on ebay, I only take MO's. In FS/T, heatware is good enough that I can use paypal to accept cash.

Update, took a little detective work, but the notebook sold to a car salesman in Indiana (he was using a different name on eBay?), and he resold it to someone in NY. Had to do a reverse lookup on the name on the CC used with PayPal & found out who it really was.
I just got off the phone with his boss & his mom, if he doesn't make good on the deal, I now have his address, phone #, place of work etc...
Seems his purchaser says they didn't recieve the item, so the eBay buyer decided to reverse the charges to me.
The guy's boss is going to have a little talk with him about contract law
If he doesn't make good, my local PD will have his local PD talk to him![]()
PayPal & eBay are pretty worthless for disputes:|

Wow, that re-sale must be some trick. How did that work? Did he win, and then turn around and sell it to the next highest bidder? Sounds like a scam to me. What town in Indiana is this guy from? I don't want any more info than that. I just don't want to ever buy a car from this guy.

His boss was pretty nice...
I just found his auction where he resold my notebook:

Wierd thing is that the buyer who says they didn't receive it has good feedback...
