Thanks you guys, I've been busy tinkering with your suggestions and here is what I can tell you so far:
miketheidiot: Thanks, I did had the HT multiplier on 4.
Dough1397: That voltage was indeed low. I adjusted to 2.7 and then 2.75.
Zebo:
First of all thanks for a clear and organized set of things to try and check.
1. Though I am not sure what you mean by locked, I am not using any sort of SATA device which I assume is a raid 0 or raid 1 array, correct? I cannot tell you much other than I have a simple 55gig HD. I'm not stuipid, but I am new...
2. Done. More to follow.
3. Done, worked like a charm.
4. That worked.
5. Move them from 3/4 to 2/1 this morning. It didn't appear to help the original problem.
6. Done (1.4)
7. Done
8. Done
OK, using your help I have managed a slightly larger OC as follows...
CPU = 233*12, 2.55v+3.3% (~1.6v), 4x HT
RAM = 2.5-3-3-10, 2.75v
Tests and the good news: I have been able to run EQ2 for ~5+ hrs, no crashing. I have also run memtest86 to 100% and prime 95 for 15 mins, both with no issues. I know that those are not nearly long enough, but I will run memtest86 all night tonight and prime95 more another night but EQ2 does push my system pretty hard. Temp is 51-53C under load which is about as high as I wanna go right now.
Not so good:
1. I have a memory leak. I can watch my page file fill slowly over a game session. I am assuming there is nothing I can do about this as it is software related?
2. Sometimes the game will studder as in it goes very smooth and then slows a moment back to smooth and the slows a moment in a somewhat regular pattern for a few minutes. This is usually when my page file is getting full.
3. Load times can sometimes be slow and sometimes be very fast as compared to my partner's computer when he loads into the same zone. Is that particularly unusual? (this too tends to happen when my page file fills up)
4. I didn't notice any issues with memoryleak before as I had 2gigs of very cheap PC 3200 ram. That is probably because there was more buffer available when I had 2 gigs in instead of 1? I do notice much better overall load times now though 🙂
The next set of tests I wanna try will be long term pime 95 and memtest86. I also wanna test a benchmarking program such as 3dmark vs factory settings and vs my old ram. Thanks millions for your help folks! I will also post again when I run those tests for longer.
