Hello All. I have this laptop and have been very pleased with it since I got it. The only upgrade I did was add an aditional 512mb of ram, which definitly made a big differance in performance.

However, as of 2-3 weeks ago my battery life has gotten progressivly worse, to the point now that I can get maybe 20 minutes of run time if I am unplugged with Max Battery setting!

So, I have been emailing HP's service dept (which is really fast, and overall a good experiance I must say) and after following there steps (most of which I already had done before they told me, like completly discharge and recharge the battery, recalibrate the battery meter, etc) they have decided to do a service repair and are sending me a box to ship the laptop to them. They think it might be some of the power circuity inside the laptop, not the battery itself.

Anyway, before I send this in, should I remove that extra RAM stick I put in? Or do they not care about added RAM (It was not HP brand ram, it was Corsair).

They won't care at all. Just send it in.

What kind of speed are you guys getting from the USB port? I'm only getting about 8MB/s with an external drive that's 25MB/s elsewhere.
