LOL, that's scaryGlad to hear the RAM makes a big difference though! One question: If you put JUST the PC3200 stick in that sucker, does it show in BIOS as PC3200 or as PC2700?
Jason
Hah, thanks for that!Originally posted by: joshsquall

S754 only support single channel, but ATI's chipset does support DDR400 so that is all correct. Unless you change your power scheme such as it forces CPU to stay at max clock (Or use SpeedSwitchXP, that's easier IMO) then the CPU will be at 800MHz unless it needs to clock upwards. Looks like everything is working fine.Originally posted by: zerocoolok
I picked up a gig of the pqi pc3200 sticks at fry's yesterday and the performance is A LOT better! It runs like a Turion! Anyway i ran cpu-z and says that the ram is running in single channel mode but it detects the memory right (pc3200). It doesnt detect the processor speed right (it shows 799mhz even when properties in my computer says 1599mhz). Anyhow i think that it may have to do with the messed up power save detection that the memory speed may be detected wrong (single channel instead of dual channel). But it really doesnt matter when i can run world of warcraft with most of the settings high (at 1024x768!). It also runs Farcry with all settings low (looks desent!). BTW i have the graphics memory set at 128mb. OH I ALMOST FORGOT: there is a bios update for our laptops on the hp website. It upgrades it to ver. 13 from ver. 11. Thats about it. If anyone upgrades the processor please share the experience with us!!! Oh, buy one of the last socket 939 opterons at newegg before they sell out!

I got mine score up to 488.
I installed 512MB 2700 generic RAM
I updated to omega drivers and set to best performance.
I set the page file to 1000MB static.
Did memory tweaks and Unload DLL tweak from Here
Defragged using windows defrag tool.
Hope this helps.
If I wanted to get a 512mb stick, and add it to the 256mb already in the machine, should I get PC2700 or PC3200? Can you mix the two, or is it bad to mix PC3200 with PC2700?
Thanks in advance.
edit: Looking at other sources on line, it looks like the PC3200 would be clocked down to match the PC2700. I asked because of the earlier post by Issares that mentioned adding a gig of PC3200 and moving the existing PC2700 to the second slot. I am assuming that all the memory would then run at PC2700 speeds. Is that right?
