This meeting was originally touted as a meeting for senior citizens. When they showed up 2/3rds of the seats were reserved for people from this union. Sounds like they were asking for trouble. I thought democrats were suppose to care about old people. I guess that is all a big lie.

Note: The city of St Louis, MO is pro-democratic and the Post Dispatch is very slanted toward its own liberal agenda. However, there is a wide mix of people in Missouri that support both Democratic and Republican points of view.

The dems do care about senior citizens. Death counseling is part of the UHC bill, didn't you know?

Living wills are such a horrible thing. :(

I have no problem with living wills.

You do realize that "death counseling" is just providing ability to create living wills, right?

Its just a beginning, lot more will follow. With police officers being laid off situation can get even worse.

The Tea Bagger Shout Downs shall be met with complete and total resistance.

Mine will be passive but I do not blame others who are incited to violence by Tea Bagger Douche Baggery.

That's right folks, the "tea Bagger"'s are douches, not the criminals assaulting them. What a fucking idiotic world you live in.

From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

"These tea baggers are dangerous," she said. "I'm not going to any more town hall meetings until these people calm down."

Inside the gathering, while speakers stuck to aging issues, they were often interrupted by yells from audience members who wanted to shift the focus to health care.

"This isn't even close to civil," said Steve Belosi, 52, of Lake Saint Louis, commenting on the crowd. "The rudeness was beyond compare."

Any questions ? Or do you care to ignore the shout downs and assault me with your blather and obfuscation on this matter?

God damn that freedom of speech!! You know, the ones the Left hides behind while its throwing piss on people and screaming at them.

Good thing no one believes your bull crap.

The actions of the Tea Baggers speak much , much louder than your words.

I bolded my comments for your attention.

The only douches around here perpetuate intellectual dishonesty

Here the spin. The was no violence at any of these town halls until Pres Obama ordered union members in to beat people up.

Obviously the OP and other posters have been ignoring clips from various town halls over the last 2 weeks.

Guess there was none of that violence stuff going on earlier when a GOP congressman thought Dem congressman getting "lynched" at town halls was a good thing.

GOP condoning violence

You heard it here folks. Expressing your first amendment rights at a governmental sanctioned event is now considered "dangerous" and is justification for physical assault. No more questions HHBB, you've provided an excellent example of kind of shitbag the typical liberal really is to the more reasoned of our population. Congratulations.

Problem is that THE PUBLIC doesn't want what is being purposed or is simply thinks that their current insurance is 'good' or 'very good'.

The most important fundamental is that 68% of American voters have health-insurance coverage they rate good or excellent. That number comes from polling conducted this past weekend of 1,000 likely voters. Most of these voters approach the health-care reform debate fearing that they have more to lose than to gain.

Public doesn't even understand what's being proposed. They think public option is going to be everyone's plan, even though it's been explained over and over that you can keep your current plan instead.

Nothing wrong with either of these items as they are something that we should all be aware of. The point that people are concerned about is that death counseling may alos mean 'sorry, you're too old and too expensive to maintain. We're going to stop your treatment and give you some pills...' I'm not saying that this is part of the current bill, but I can see a day when this could be seen as an acceptable cost control measure. I don't trust our government (don't care who's running it) to manage this.

However, there are some numbers congressional Democrats can celebrate. Specifically, 63% of voters agreed with the president earlier this year when he said, ?We must make it a priority to give every single American quality affordable health care.? Yet while they agree in theory, only 28% are currently willing to pay higher taxes to achieve that goal.

But delivering for the Democratic base has the potential to hurt the party?s standing among independents. Among the unaffiliated, 35% are in favor of the Democrats? health-care reform initiative, and 60% are opposed. Notably, just 16% of unaffiliated voters strongly favor the legislative effort; 47% strongly oppose it.

BTW - for those of you who still think this is some kind of grass roots uprising by the people its a GOP tactic that has been used before.

Remember the 2000 election recount in Florida. Well dressed angry mob shows up at a polling place to stop the recount using violence. The GOP claimed then it was just random voters but the evidence suggested otherwise

Well dressed GOP angry mob

Where exactly have you been for the past 8 years with the Democrats?
NONE of those events were "grass roots" and backed by moveon.org, codepink, or any other of the hundred of liberal groups.

Yeah, so those who are happy with their plan can keep it. But we need a public option to address the problem with uninsured, and take cases where insurance companies don't want to provide coverage due to preexisting conditions and such.
I don't see why it matters if we pay for their care through taxes or through high healthcare premiums like we do now to cover unpaid hospital bills. I'd rather pay taxes to pay for preventative care than pay high premiums for ER care.

Problem is that the private sector CANNOT compete with a public option. It is simply not possible. The government makes the rules and skews the rules to help it s government backed companies (see GM tax breaks on losses).

Secondly, the government can simple PRINT MONEY to subsidize costs or just raise taxes on those with private insurance.

Few See U.S. Health Care as 'Best in the World'

Most Americans rate the nation's health care as no better than average when compared with health care in other industrialized countries. Just 15% say health care in this country is the "best in the world," while 23% rate it as "above average"; about six-in-ten (59%) view U.S. health care as either "average" (32%) or "below average" (27%).
