Do you supply the Hazmat suit?It beats not working doesnt it.

Full time, that would be under $500 a month. $300 for health insurance, that leaves $200. Subtract $50 a month for food (literally rice and beans) and you're at $150. Good luck finding an arrangement where $150 gets you a place with roommates.
Look on the bright side.
In Kentucky you could be living the highlife on UI bringing down $82/week ...
(which in Spidey-Speak is $400+/week!)

I was on it 6-7 years ago. I got the maximum which was about 400 bucks a week then.

-edit-
Just ran the online calculator. I would get 415/week plus an additional 25 for a total of 440/week, the exact equivalent of an 11/hour job for doing absolutely nothing.
For two years. The numbers say that is 43,000 dollars for doing nothing for two years.
So you would make about 21.5 a year on unemployment pre-taxes. How does that compare to your normal wage?
Wouldn't even pay the mortgage. But that's not the point. .
That IS the point. UI isn't fun for anyone. If you are a higher wage earner or someone on minimum wage life still sucks on UI.
That's what savings is for. It's a very stupid move to live paycheck to paycheck, you're only one paycheck away from financial ruin. But if you do that, that's your dumb choice.
And life for me on UI was very sweet. Golf every day, took care of some house stuff that I had been meaning to do. It was great, AND I got paid.
I see your mind is trying to navigate this without admitting that UI sucks and people would rather work to make real money. I applaud you sir, not many can be as dense as you.

Then why are there all the news stories about people on UI turning down jobs because they would rather get paid the same and not work? It's common sense.
No, there are many people that would rather NOT work and get free money.
I dunno spidey? Are their millions of news articles about millions of people who dont want to work? Or is it more likely that a couple of news organizations found a couple of people who would rather collect UI then work?
I'll err on the side of common sense. The articles are from employers who can't fill positions because folks would rather be on UI than work for 15-20 bucks an hour.
Like I said earlier JStorm01 and Spidey are both right but arguing as if the other is not. I dare say the majority of unemployed people want a job, but nobody can pretend that getting a check doesn't make them at least slightly less willing to accept whatever they can get. Sometimes that's good; no point in a corporate exec type flipping burgers.
However, some unknown percentage are absolutely drinking cheap beer and watching tv all day every day while ringing in their crap each week. Everyone knows this but nobody knows what percentage of full-on deadbeats there is. I have no idea. Is it 5%, 40%? No clue.
99 weeks to sit on her ass? Yeah right, what a crock of shit. If someone cant find a job in 99 weeks they are pretty worthless or extremely lazy. One or the other, most likely both.
...or there are no Jobs
