Unemployment vote today

There are countless links, and this thread will probably be closed due to no links, but what I am looking for is a place to follow the vote online, if possible. My wife has been out of work too long and her benefits are at an end unless they vote for the extension.
I am not looking for a debate on whether this is good or bad, just a place to keep an eye on the vote. Is there such a place? I checked opencongress.org, I'd love to find a cspan type of link if possible.
Thanks in advance.

Your wife could have worked for the Census. Mine did. I cant wait for people to go to jail for not filling out the census. What a joke law that was. What they should have done is if you dont fill out the census, you dont get unemployment or State Aid or SS or Medicare or any other aid. The funny thing is with all the computers we have today, why do we need a census?

I did not get an extension on my unemployment when I was laid off from a factory a while back. These extensions are pure baloney. It is unequal application of benefits. One year is enough unemployment. If people are too comfortable they will be happy with the current people in office. It is like you are voting for more government.

Since my wife is currently unemployed, I feel I know what I am talking about. Just be glad you did not lose your job also.

well, I'm all for giving someone a job.... But I dunno. Why can't they pick up trash or volunteer or DO FUCKING SOMETHING for the checks they are getting I got denied for unenjoyment. But, if I were getting a check in the mail every month, I'd be more then happy to pick up trash or do whatever for the community.

But I could apply this to the welfare / section 8 and lets not forget about food stamps!

Both sides want the unemployment - the difference is how to pay for it.

I can remember that 4 months were it.

And the unemployment checks were large enough that they disqualified you for any additional assistance.

Ok, clearly nobody knows of a link or there isn't one. If a mod wants to close this before it turns into a pissing contest about UE being good or bad, please do.

It's going to pass. They've taken out a whole lot of the pork they stuffed into it reducing the costs down to a more manageable level. Obama insisted last fall that the unemployment extension be paid for but there has been no outcry for it this time except by the Republicans. It will go through as borrowed money.

It could have passed initially had all the Dem's had the stomach to do so. They have a majority after all. Instead we've been treated to cries of obstructionism and filibuster. Thankfully for the Dem's a lot of folks with the mentality to vote for Alvin Greene will lap that shit up.

I'm not against the extension. Just cut something else or take it from unspent tarp funds. Don't add another $33B to the deficit. That's insane.

99 weeks ffs thats almost two years you get paid to sit on your ass and do nothing.

in my opinion, 90 days would be enough. if you apply to 90 places and dont get a job at a single place, then you should get an extension, if not, you get dropped.

we shouldnt be paying for people's laziness

If you're sitting in front of the computer just put it on your favorite news site. What's the difference if you know about it the second it happens, or 3 minutes afterwards?

Well the Tarp money was suppose to be temporary. Use that for unemployment. The stimulus money is not all spent either. Sounds like they have money, but they dont want to spend it on people. People in govt are good at spending money we dont have.

My wife was going to school and working for the census both. Most people are not home during the day anyway.

Enlighten me here as I haven't collected UE in over a couple of decades. Back when I did I had to actively search for work and have proof to collect UE. You don't have to do that now?

99 weeks to sit on her ass? Yeah right, what a crock of shit. If someone cant find a job in 99 weeks they are pretty worthless or extremely lazy. One or the other, most likely both.

I don't think you understand how the economy works. Unemployment is 10%. That means there aren't physically enough jobs for everybody. If you're in that 10% and it's not improving, getting out of it will only happen if someone else loses their job. If the unemployment rate IS improving, getting out of the 10% depends on being one of the few who gets one of the new jobs.
