You're right it was avoidable by both involved and the fact of the matter it appears that TM was shot/killed while in the commission of assault and battery against GZ. The law must be applied/followed based on the evidence and nothing more. If it's shown to be a case of self defense then GZ should be provided all the protections/rights afforded to him by Florida Law/Statutes.

It's obvious that Martin was shot and killed by a narcissist who wanted to impress his daddy and the local police. Zimmerman instigated the entire confrontation, and he's going to be held accountable for it in a courtroom. Only in Florida, it seems, can you start a fight then kill the other person for defending themselves. I'm thinking that law is going to change after this trial. It's very telling you don't want this to see trial.

Well which is it? Is he going to be held accountable or does Florida law protect him? Both can't be true.

that is a mile radius outside that neighborhood.

You can tighten the focus. There have been burglaries within a half mile of the address of the shooting, and even within that tiny subdivision, within a couple of blocks of the shooting.

It's OK to admit that you just made this up. Saying anything else is just foolish. If you want to continue down this road, identify all the sources of information you checked before stating that there have been no break-ins. If you have such sources, please regale us with the volumes of incidents before and after the shooting (since the site I linked doesn't allow us to look as far back as the night of the shooting). I suspect that if those statistics were available, the pre- and post-shooting numbers would be similar (other than in the couple of months after the shooting, when the entire subdivision was packed with reporters and thus there wouldn't have been many crimes committed).

That neighborhood doesn't span 1/2 mile though.

There have been no break-ins in that ACTUAL neighborhood and the media are long gone along with the police.

Yes there have. There was one .35 miles away, in that same subdivision. Though it appears you have an incredibly narrow definition of "neighborhood" (much narrower than mine), surely that would qualify.

Just admit that you made this up. If not, link to your source so we can compare before/after numbers. I expect they are basically similar, other than the Feb-Apr timeframe, when there won't have been many crimes of any kind.

I don't really understand people's abiding interest in this case, but I guess I still have enough interest to check in, and fact-check those of you painting Mr. Martin as a one-man crime wave.

Well I can't speak for Londo but it's important to me that he walk free because all indications based on the evidence we have, are that he didn't do anything wrong.

Not just legally speaking, but morally speaking as well.

I don't think a person should face punishment for defending their own life.

And JKing106, can you drop all this stupidity about "paid shill" ? at one point you made a big deal of the fact that I hadn't denied it, then when I denied it you kept right on trucking... so my lack of denial went from being very telling, to being irrelevant?

I'm not paid by anybody to express my opinions here, and if you must know I am rapidly starting to think the "liberal" identifier no longer applies to me anyway.

This case was a turning point for me and alerted me to a lot of hypocrisy on my (former?) side that I hadn't been able to see previously.

I still hate pieces of shit like Romney who are born with all the privilege imaginable and then somehow think they did that themselves, who don't want the rich to pay their fair share... who view unnecessary wars as a financial opportunity, and idiots who try to dictate personal, sexual morality to others just as much as I ever did.

It's just that now I'm starting to see that people on the left might be just as deserving of my hatred for other reasons.

It's not a right or left thing really, it's a far right far left thing. Most of America ate somewhere in the middle of those extremes and don't usually post online.

Forums like these open a person up to the extremes don't think for a minute it reflects any substantial segment if society.

For the record I think your wrong in the moral culpability part but I think the paid shill comments are akin to spideys trey outbursts, only real purpose is to cause a reaction.

You can look it up yourself, but here is the salient info:

BURGLARY
Zoom here
Case Number: 201250004449
Date: 8/14/2012 10:30 AM
Location: 1400 BLOCK RETREAT VIEW CIRCLE SANFORD FL 32771
Description: BURGLARY (APARTMENT/CONDO )

Are you going to admit you lied when you claimed to know there had been no burglaries in this neighborhood since Mr. Martin's death? And you don't know him, so calling him "Slim" is really obnoxious.

Lulz. Every single one of my friends. Every co worker believes the same. We would have shot that skittle before his brutal attack. That's the only fault we can find with z-mans actions.

where did I lie? Please show us proof in the same locations that neighborhood suffered, not extensions from it.

I'm not sure I understand your broken English, but you stated as fact that there have been no break-ins in the neighborhood where Mr. Martin was shot. I proved that this was false, and showed you one in the same subdivision, 1/3 mile from where the shooting happened. It's obvious you were BS'ing and I caught you at it. Now you insist on doubling down rather than just admitting you were talking out your ass in the first place. It's really juvenile behavior.

I choose to believe he is an invented troll persona, or at least acting crazier here than he would in real life.

I say what I mean, and mean what I say. I am a man of my word.

Just yesterday I was shopping for a hot tub and commented on how low our electric costs are for now. He uttered "for now". I simply nodded and said "yes, great fuck upon this president"

He nodded back and said. "yes, hope you're ready".

Ready to buy some Depends when you both piss yourselves? Good idea. No one wants to be around ground men who reek of piss.

Probably, and the mods are in on it. That's the only reason I can come up why he's allowed to do what he does for tens of thousands of posts over the years.

Spidey may hold some views many of us find objectionable, but there's no real case to be made for preventing him from expressing his opinions.

There's a much better case to be made for banning JKing106, who brings nothing to the discussion except fresh-from-his-own-ass speculations about everyone who disagrees with him. And emotionally charged, fact-ignoring bullshit post after post.

At least Spidey comments on the topic at hand, JKing106 exclusively comments (and by comments I mean insults) on the other posters in the thread.
