Do you truly think Hendo was 100% in his fight vs Shields? He didn't even look like the same fighter I saw in the UFC. He made an excuse about being sick - whether you believe that or not, he wasn't what he should have been.

Shields squeaked out a win against Kampmann. Kampmann isn't even close to being in the same league as GSP. I'm the opposite of you - anything Shields can do, GSP can do better. You even admitted earlier - GSP controls his fights. Shields is a great fighter but I don't see it going his way. I will say - it is the most exciting and competitive match-up GSP will have had for a long time.

Hendo wasn't close to 100%, but even at 70% he's still better than most. Jake Vs Kampman was a bad fight because Jake cut way too much weight. If he had trained for that fight smartly and not cut almost 20lb the day before the fight to make weight I think he would have really dominated Kampmann. Even being almost sick from the weight cut he still controlled that fight which was pretty amazing. GSP wins by controlling fighters on the ground, but he's not going to be able to hold Jake down, and Jake has vastly underrated JJ. His bottom game is good too. I think he'll will give GSP his toughest fight since Hughes.

Jake Shields would out LNP GSP. Probably so much so that LNP GSP fans would bitch about Shields' lnp.

The original Hughes fight where GSP got his ass handed to him because he was still green and idolized Hughes? Or the other two where GSP easily beat Matt? Not sure either one is a valid comparison for a tough fight.

I just don't see Shields being effective taking him down (Fitch and Kosh are better wrestlers) and his stand-up is ok at best. It'll still be a good fight, I just don't see how Jake will truly match-up if he can't take GSP down, which is his best chance at beating GSP.

Shields is gonna beat GSP, Georges is great, but for whatever weird reason Jake always finds a way to win. Jake does just what GSP does but he does it better.

Quoted for future reference... oh man, you are going to chew on those words so hard...

I think I've figured out the logic going on in this thread... any champion that's had a career in the UFC is "over-hyped" and any fighter from <some other promotion> would totally annihilate every UFC fighter if only Dana White wasn't to blame for <insert something here>. I learn so much here.

Quote me too - GSP will absolutely beat Shields, assuming their next fight is against each other. I will go so far as to say that GSP will likely finish Shields. GSP seems to play it safe with proven strikers, but Shields' striking is passable at best, laughable at worst. GSP will be very aggressive without as many concerns of Shields landing a one-shot KO, and will likely finish him, probably by GnP, if I had to guess.

GSP would definitely dominate Shields on his feet. Shields is nick named pillow hands for a reason.

Each fight is a new day and anything can happen. Jake isn't known for his power, but stranger shit has happened. And by stranger shit I mean this...

Nick Diaz, who's probably the biggest pillow hands dude in MMA.
Robbie Lawler is known for his great chin, guess who handed Robbie his 1st and only KO loss? Diaz. Nobody could have predicted that was going to happen. That fight was such a WTFOMGBBQSAUCE that I'm still in disbelief when I re-watch it. It wasn't a full KO, but Lawler was rocked to shit from a jab from the softest striker in MMA.

Shit if Diaz can TKO Lawler anything's possible IMHO.

Mark Hunt getting knocked out is the craziest shit to ever happen in MMA. Then again he was fighting Melvin Manhoef who I'm pretty sure is P4P the hardest hitting striker in MMA.

GSP's handiwork. Watch for the bone shifting/bulging to the left of Kos' eye just before the GIF loops.

It's not like Diaz doesn't have power, he just chooses to throw tons of light punches.

Diaz doesn't have power, that's why he doesn't throw power shots. His one KO is the biggest fluke in the history of MMA. With the exception of a huge amount of punches back to back to back he's never even rocked anyone. He hit Scott Smith with about 100 un answered jabs in a row and Scott was still standing. Now Smith is pretty tough but shit that many shots from anyone with power dude would have been long asleep.

Melvin is an extremely explosive and powerful fighter. The guy is awesome!

The only reason Mark Hunt got KO'd was because

a) He leaned into that fucking punch
b) as bfdd said, Melvin Manhoef is probably p4p hardest puncher in MMA
