U-MD gone the way of Mizzou

64 demands by U-Md. student coalition include prayer rooms in every major building, shuttles to Muslim center

A coalition of 25 student organizations representing eight minority communities at the University of Maryland has presented a list of 64 demands to the administration. They include increased mental-health support and scholarships for marginalized students, as well as prayer rooms in every “major” building and shuttle service for Muslim students to a Muslim center.

List of the demands: http://www.dbknews.com/protect-umd-demands/

I encourage you to read through the demands made. This shouldn't be what we want from our higher ed. Long gone are the days unfortunately that college equated to critical thinking, studying, and improving oneself. Backlash to exactly this type of behavior and thinking is what got Trump elected (that coupled with an absolutely horrid opponent). I'd love to meet on middle ground, not have Trump as president, but also not face the degradation of society by a bunch of spoiled children.

Pretty sure the same crowd were bragging about how men were men and women were women back in their day, and they never were the sort to like edumacating anyway. More the type to whine about kids these days before jumping on the cross if any criticism came back their way.

These student coalitions are usually meaningless and have no power outside of the pennies given to them by administration to play make-believe politics.

64 demands and not one suggestion for how to fund the incredible safe space bureaucracy they seek to create. They also forgot to demand brown or black uniforms for their thought crime task force, and the demand that all Jewish students wear a star of david to identify themselves (you know, so as not to trigger the Pro-Palestenian marginalized students)

Dear liberals. This is why Trump is President.

I think the university should teach a class on how to deal with the Trump crowd like I do.

Pretty sure they were riled by that wall to keep out the indigenous looking getting 10ft higher, and not mealy this and that about leftists. Though I guess that's the narrative going around, them mean old liberals lost because conservatives couldn't get to their safe space fast enough.

No. This is not why Trump is President.

One of the reasons Trump is now President elect is that there weren't enough students out in America that cared enough to go out and vote.

But crybaby liberal students is not why Trump got elected.

The indigenous should take up their case against Spain. I am sure they can get the UN to write an ineffective letter

I am investing in play doh

Sure seems like there is overlap of the cry babies and students that did not vote.

Well technically since the crybaby liberal students didn't vote, it sort of is their fault

The tough guy act only works if you won't fit the previous description.

Unfortunately not as many edumacational institutes in the places that matter, not as many at least as their proudly stupid counterparts.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that these particular cry baby liberals are activists that do vote.

It's the silent majority of stupid out there that were too apathetic to go out and vote.

I give these students credit for being active at their school, as misguided as it is...

Fair enough, although to me, misguided is almost as bad if not worse than disengaged. The disengaged typically do not cause harm to others. The misguided tend to impose their misguidedness on others.

Every group that signed onto these demands should be summarily kicked out of the university, they are obviously too stupid for higher education and a bad influence on those that really do want to learn.

Yes the "I don't want to push 1 for English" crowd filled the Trump rallies, but Trump got elected because a lot of otherwise normal people didn't punish him for smashing the Overton Window like many in the media and many on the left assumed they would.

This lack of penalty for Trump not playing by the rules of modern society is directly related to an anti-PC backlash and the fact that Obama's election basically ended the 50 year tradition of middle class white guilt. These students are like the gay people in Massachusetts who wanted to get married but instead got W re-elected, hence why they keep getting national coverage.

If you are suggesting that these students lack the conviction, credibility and moral legitimacy of previous civil right and social justice movements, you would be correct.

The only horror is that school administrators are even paying mind to these laughable first world demands.

Premise #1: Stupid people chose not to vote.
Premise #2: Stupid people who did vote voted for Republicans/Trump.

Your conclusion: if more people voted, Democrats would have won.
But your premises suggest Trump would receive the greater share of votes if more people voted.

In other words, your logic has flaws. I suggest you take a few more college courses. You might just learn something.

"Trump won the election because there were not enough people who wanted to vote for the Democratic candidate."

You're like the national football broadcaster who I painfully listened to during his pregame bit predict - "The team that will win this game will be the team that finds a way to score more points than the opposition."

The horror. The horror.

Thank you for confirming a popular theory that modern SJW's are merely trying to recreate the greatness of liberals past who fought for genuine injustices.

When so such injustices exist, make them up! The fact that people look at you funny when you holler about the travesties of "microaggressions" is all the proof you need that it's a real problem to fight for!

[cheer] Righteousness!!

Not a very convincing way to cast a wide net of dispersion on liberals IMO.

The leap of logic to tie the two together is much like swirling a bowl of alphabet soup and wishing for something to make sense. Too many variables involved to make a solid argument that only liberals are to "blame" for those students' actions.
